

Lrmaggedon Ii Just Isn't Fun

I dusted off my Pretty Baby, loaded it up with 55 LRMs, and took it out on a few matches today.
I never died. I never had fewer than 2 kills and many assists. I never had to "work" for a kill. I just sat near the back and pointed and clicked. Easy money.
My question is: WHO enjoys this? What is the point? Minecraft is more challenging. I cannot suppose it is any more fun for my hapless victims, especially on Caustic Valley, where things that USED to provide cover no longer do.
PGI, please PLEASE do not cater to the crowd that thinks this is at all fun, or takes the slightest skill. A Hotfix is necessary yesterday, not with the next patch.

But when I died, I spectated on the LRM spammers sitting at the edge of the map, usually behind cover, firing volley after volley to locked-on targets they couldn't see. Some volleys connected, and some scored kills. It seemed mostly random. Most of them scored fairly well at the end of the match, though not always.
I was going to buy a Catapult just so I could ''get with the program''. But to be honest, it just doesn't look like fun sitting behind a rock, waiting for a lock or trying to spot a distant target who was stupid enough to poke his head out.
So I decided to stop playing for the rest of the day and go play that copy of Bioshock Infinite I bought a couple of months ago. I think it will be more challenging and entertaining than the current MWO meta.
I'll check back after the next hotbreak, err, I mean, hotfix

All we wanted was a tiny bit more damage and speed to make missiles and direct fire a bit more useful so they could get hit before ducking for cover. Not hit anything that isn't behind the largest mountain or building on the map. (at least that was my impression)

So how is that worse than the Pre-Patch Meta where Canageroo Assaults carrying 3 to 6 High Alpha Weapons reaping anything apart beyond viewing range?

I'm playing a fast stalker AC/20 boat (AC/20, 5 ML, 1 SRM6, 18 DHS), and frankly I'm loving the LRM changes. There are so many vulnerable LRM boats just itching to die who can't fight back. With the seismic sensor it helps all the more avoid ambushes. I'm loving the changes now.

Not only did they upgrade the LRM damage by 0.2 but they also:
LRM Speed
Changed the trajectory (to 'their desired trajectory')
Made Tag and Artemis lock targets faster
Made Tag and Artemis group closer.
Made Tag and Artemis lose lock slower.
Hey PGI, here's a tip. Introduce ONE (UNO, 1, a single) of these changes initially, see how it affects things and then consider the others. Adding 6 things all at once is destined for failure and facepalm emergency patching.

I'm waiting for the fix, but seriously, I just still did not have much if any trouble getting out of the way of incoming LRM's most of the time last night. I will say that, for now, you should probably not go water on Forest Colony

That said, yes, i had to run/hide from lrm boats, but, it wasn't near as bad as i've read on the forums. I also, did not connect with lrm's every salvo, though, it was better than before, and, it was great making the poptarts keep their heads down

so many LRMs means no streaks or SRMs so if you still have a close range brawler you are king. I had a blast last night plus if you have a 30 point alpha you pretty much destroy everything cause everyone was out in catapults and the Blackjack mech. Good times good times
