I just came out of a game with a TK. I just hit an enemy stalker (which was at a standstill) on the nose with with an AC/20. The team mate was running into the stalker at the same time from the side colliding as the shot hit. My question is... why did my team mate get damaged? Splash damage of my shot or enemy internal ammo explosion(no component destroyed message)? It could be that he was hit according to the server due to latency... but that would have to have been terrible latency that would not be tollerated in a typical first person shooter. Thanks for reading and contributing any thoughts. *sulks about TK.

Under a condition like this any latency of a fraction of a second would have caused a TK. I'm usually seeing PING around 100 for most players so between you and him latency was around 1/5th of a second (200ms). Honestly, in that kind of time frame there doesn't seem to be a problem at all.
Look on the bright side... at least you didn't get a TK because he backed up into your firing line!

It could be a number of reasons, although ammo explosions (internal on enemy) would not give you a teamkill nor can they transfer outside of the mech.
Since very few people use just one AC/20, was there 2? One could have hit the teammate while one hit the enemy. Or it could have been passing damage from a laser, which caused an ammo explosion in the ally -- those deaths are always delayed.
Whatever the case, they sometimes happen.

I'll put it down to latency although the graphics on my screen showed a hit on my target. My team mate was about to die and I find it offensive that it's my fault and am penalised when I'm so careful with my precious AC/20 ammo! I've been getting annoyed with latency related incidents and have only been playing a week since beta. WTB Euro servers! Wish I hadn't started the premium really. Thank you for your information!

Welcome! If you want a challenge with AC/20s, grab a Raven 4X! Maximum of 5 tons of ammo + nearly full armor in exchange for having an XL 170 engine. 86 kph and loads of fun. Glass cannons can be epic.
