Hi all, I did not see or mention if 'Mechs will be able to do a wealth of physical related moves and techniques in the boardgame. Generally, this implies physical things such as:

- Punching
- Kicking
- Leg Sweep
- Ramming
- Pushing
- DFA ("Death from above" or Jump Jet landing ontop of an opponent)
- Using 'Mech sized Hand Weapons (Axe, Lance, Sword, etc.)
- Pick up 'Mech parts on the battlefield to use as a swinging object (Arm or Leg)
- Climbing mode (if a 'Mech has hands) to get to higher places
- Pick up and run with things (if the 'Mech has hands)

Those are just what came to mind what a 'Mech can do via the boardgame and generally not have been included in any MechWarrior game that I am aware of (DFA and ramming being the exception).

Will we see this replicated in the new game?

I would like to be able to punch out a cockpit with an Atlas like the BattleTech picture of BigBen doing that to a Masakari. Or, kicking the head of a 'Mech a la Dragon rush. Or, just Wasp rush and leg sweep another 'Mech to trip them.

;)

Ah, no punching! That Dragon in the game is perfect to go up close and getting physical with light and medium 'Mechs!

lmao game play would be reduced to a bunch of steiner fans in Atlas's screaming THIS IS SPARTA! over the intercoms whilst trying to catch up to some random scout mech just so they can kick them

Coming to think of it, it'd be the other way round, a 30 tonne mech sprinting at 200 k's into a 100 tonne mech would cause some interesting crunching noises, with the probable outcome been the 100 tonne fat boi capsizing with a tea bagging scout mech ontop

I look at it this way, there was a reason mechs have hands. In order to punch and crush the cockpit.

We'll just have to wait and see what the game release brings.

I think it would be interesting to incorporate melee... but I doubt I'd find myself actually using it.

Read the FAQ

Q. Will MechWarrior® Online™ have Mech melee combat?

A. At this point in time we are not looking at melee combat. We may revisit melee combat if we can design something that is fun and does not compromise the overall gameplay experience.
