How did you fit all of that?

That is an easy build. Run a 350XL, AC/20, 2ML, 3 SRM6s, 4JJ in my 9S no problem. Gauss only weighs in at 1 more ton so drop one SRM6 for an SRM4 and your golden.

VTR-9K

It's slightly slower than what I like without speed tweak, but once fully Elited it feels quite nimble. It's right now the most successful mech I've ever run, actually by quite a margin.

the unbalanced JJs hurt my head. They should not be allowed. Or they should make you do cartwheels and hurt YOUR head. :P

That's the beauty of it, by placing them the way I did it'll make your Victor barrel roll to make you even harder to hit midair!

I hope you'll like it with some more playing time. My first two hours running a Victor (bought it on the testserver before it was released for CBills) I was quite unimpressed too. But after getting used to all long-range weapons are in the arms and work around it using JJ to get into good positions, it's quickly becoming one of my favorite mechs.
Playing this like a Hunchback seems to be more successful than playing it like the assault that it is. Matches where I'm the heaviest mech are kinda tricky. I'm more used to playing Atlases and Highlanders.

I take back everything I've ever said about this mech. I was nervous about taking an XL because I was afraid it was too broad. Consequently, with a standard engine I was doing okay, but not great. Tonight I dropped in an XL.

Best. Decision. Ever.

This mech is a freaking wrecking ball with the right loadout. Just tonight, I've had:

A 848 damage, 5 kill match (last of two mechs standing - I killed 2 brawler Atlases and a brawler Jager in brawl range)
A 694 damage, 3 kill match (last mech standing)
A 772 damage, 6 kill match (one of three left standing - I got wolfpacked by 3 lights and wiped them all out)

Along with several other good 2-3 kill matches.

Consider me sold.

preach it brother! Pretty much similar results. My damage isn't quiet so high on average, but the results are not dissimilar. Of course, there are a few hardheads that can't believe or accept that.

I'm pretty sure it was you that convinced me to drop in the XL. It turned it from seeming like an underpowered Highlander into making the Highlander seem like the underpowered one. Both chassis do well with an XL, but the spread of the weapon mounts coupled with the speed make the Victor seem like the better choice now. Played correctly, you can stay out of other brawlers' arcs of fire while dropping withering fire on them.

Gallowglas welcome to the party :P Now you see how much fun the Victor can be with a big XL in it. Although honestly I we should have been telling every one how bad the Victor was and not to play it haha.

Yep Victor is easily my favorite assault mech as well now. It's also my first to have JJ's. I pondered the XL issue as well but finally went with it. It's easily increased my damage output 100%. The only problem is you have to use all of the mechs capabilities to really get the most out of it. I haven't been, as I said it's my first with JJ's. Now that I am beginning to utilize it's full potential it's quickly going from a fun to play oversized wang to an absolute mech mashing machine. The thing just spits death and destruction and yet gracefully avoids much of the return fire. It can quickly get into situations where it's needed that other mechs can't and if things get to hot it can extract itself where other mechs would be just hoping to get off one more shot before they die. The best part is that it does all this but requires a somewhat varied loadout. More mechs like this and pilots that love them will do more to rebalance the meta than all the heat and convergence fixes me thinks.

Oh yeah I forgot, mech sucks, total garbage, complete waste of money. Without a doubt better off saving ur money for a locust, or better yet an Urbanmech. Don't even bother with this swill, just keep on with that PPC stalker. Really

I wasted credits on a victor but its not the victors fault.I can say me and an XL in an assault class mech just don't mix,I'm just not good enough at spreading the damage and dealing it to be effective. You gotta have both skill sets to do well.I sold it rather quickly like I did the quickdraw and Highlander. Lol maybe its jump able mechs with XL engines I just cannot handle. SKILLS I NEED SKILLS:-) :-) I think I can,I think I can,I think I can.:-)

If you learned how to survive in an Awesome, transitioning to a Victor is easy. The JJs make it even easier to spread damage and also make others miss.

There's mechs like this in every weight class - mechs that are light on the tonnage side, therefore gimping their potential engine, heatsink and weapon loads. Most of them go faster than their heavier counterparts. Take the Awesome, for example. It can go faster than most assaults. It's lighter than most assaults.

The awesome was my favorite mech since childhood. I ran Awesomes with a tabletop 3 PPC configuration the second I could purchase them, which was back in closed beta. Yes, this was when PPCs were garbage. No, I didn't care. Awesomes were the first mech I ever mastered. I have screenshot upon screenshot of dealing 750+ damage and getting 3+ kills a match on average, and I can safely say...

Fast and light, in this meta, is trash. It's garbage. It's stinky poo poo. When you're dropping against Kaos, CSJ, ERP, Snow Raven, Kong, RJF, Antares, etc. etc. where people can hit a spider with a PPC alpha, your going fast doesn't mean squat. You're gimping your team with your lower armor values and your lower potential alpha strike.

It's boring, it's the meta, it's the best. Stalkers that can hit their target and slink away before taking return fire are king, and they're king for a reason.

They're a poor man's assault that act more like a beefier heavy. The assault portion of the Victor the Highlander can do better. It feels more like a Dragon with better armor, seeing as how its weaponry is gimped for its class relative to how the Dragon has less firepower for a heavy. It has a very niche role (assault skirmisher) that doesn't even need filling most of the time. I've never been in a fight where I thought to myself, "damn, I wish I was using a Victor," or, "man, we really need a Victor on our team right about now."
I can't believe I wasted close to 16M CB buying and upgrading one.
Just buy Highlanders. Seriously.

You know, it's a good thing you're incorrect.

Thanks!

Im not bad Bishop, and im willing to prove that anyday, but XL's in anything above a light I consider scuicide, it just dies to easily, and no the speed wont help you in a mech the size of a victor against people who know how to aim using the high alpha meta... it is what it is.

You've obviously never driven a Dragon or Awesome before then if you think XLs are suicide in anything but lights.
