My wife is working at Best Buy right now and was looking at this laptop. I'm wondering if it would play MWO decently. I'm not a laptop guy, but having options is always good. Any thoughts?

Specs:

i7-4500U processor
8GB DDR3 mem
1 TB hd
NVIDIA GT 745M video card

Yes, but recommend swapping to a SSD. Seems weird they'd cripple a generally nice spec sheet with a crummy hard drive.

if your wife use it normally for general use

the SSD upgrade isnt worth the money ATM for laptops

If I were spending $1k on a laptop I'd buy a sager np7330 since it has a gtx765 and the same better processor. Granted I don't get a massive discount for working at best buy so my priorities are different.

if she just need a general use laptop

dual core will do the trick and a light weight one

quad core for office work is overkill and your battery life stinks

Got a deal on a Toshiba-
i7-4700MQ
12GB DDR3L
Nvidia GT 740M

Should work well as a general purpose plus play MWO at a not horrible rate.

looking at the above link for the GPU

and looking at the performance when playing crysis 3 on med settings should yield 26fps average

low you can get 41 fps

I would like to also point out that the cpu in the OP's post is one of the crippled I7 (2 core 4 thread). With intel mobile you need to research and be sure what you are getting you can't just go off the name as mobile cpu's sometimes do not have the same core count as their desktop counterpart even if they are named the same. I5 mobile's are all dual core with hyper threading (the only difference from I3 mobile that I can tell from intel ark is that the I5 has more L3 cache which would allow it to perform better). While HyperThreading helps it does not work as well as an actual physical core would.

the CPU is ok but the 7660D APU might allow the game to be playable only at low settings

A10 on notebook is less powerful than the desktop variant
