Look guys, you have a month left until you're supposed to release MWO. I know it'll probably be delayed, but I think Russ should start asking his people to put extra hours in. I know it sucks, especially during summer (although Vancouver seasons aren't as bad as here), but it's time to make all days count and have a brief period of "not having a life outside his job".

I'm someone who's often working 60-72 hours a week (outside of my home, staying in hotels, no less) and I know it's doable. When you have responsibilities (here, the responsibility to release a decent product in time), you gotta do what's necessary to fulfill them.

I could be completely wrong and PGI is already on "crunch mode". But if they're not, I seriously doubt the necessary features (UI 2.0 mostly) will be ready in time for launch.

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll have the Orion and some weapon linkings in time for launch!

Crunch time started at least 2 or 3 months ago. Now, it's just way too late. The very best we can hope for is to get one or two of the major promised features out by launch, but even that would be a surprise.

In the software word, the worse your project is going the earlier you need to start putting in late hours and this project has been going pretty badly for a while now.

You're not an automation consultant are you? If so, we may have worked together. You just described a big chunk of my life, lol.

Nah, a "replacement" pharmacist (don't know how to describe it better). I work where they really need someone from 9 am to 9 pm to keep the pharmacy open and running, so I can do shifts like these for 5-7-10 days in a row. I've been working 21 days in a row so far (not all were 12 hours shifts though) and will have my first break in 2 days.

My record is 25 days of work in a row.... I don't intend on beating it though lol.

Many game companies have in-house showers and quarters the hours can get so rough. I myself have pulled more than a few 24 hour shifts. Also yes, they should be in a ridiculous crunch mode right now.

That sounds pretty rough, I can definitely respect that. Do what you got to do, weekends or not!

I spent a while as a software consultant on about 80-85% travel. It was pretty grueling, long long days before back to the hotel for a little rest and back again.

Ahhhh that takes me back.... In my "young and stupid" security days that was the norm and worse, still have a paycheck somewhere with a 110hr+ paid week.

But on topic yeah it's too late for the crunch now. Final release build should be about a week away from QA ready and bug tweaks only

yeah, I pass the time with my laptop at the hotel room. It can't run MWO unfortunately, but I do play Civ 5 and watch shows like Breaking Bad and such.

I'm pretty sure they gave up on crunch time. This time last year they were saying it would be launched in October, now they have pushed up the date to September despite a massive pile of promises waiting to be fulfilled.

See what we have now?...

That, plus another mech and maybe another map.

That's it.

It'll be funny judging by the problems 12v12 caused. It'll be a miracle if UI 2.0 doesn't crash like hell.

In my opinion, it'll be a miracle if it's even in at "launch".

Well, its been stated a few times I think that they've had UI 2.0 "under testing for a while now" so... maybe?

We've seen a few mockups, but no SS's of anything real.

It's like if they put out digitally generated concept art for a Mad-Cat.

We get 1 more mech before release, on the month of release. September mech is probably going to be either a light mech or an assault mech since we are short on announced/ingame light and assault mechs.

Fingers crossed for Zeus.
but it'll probaly be a light mech, since we still only have 4 compared to the 6 mediums in game.

goofy numbers for fun .

lets say they have 1000 man hours of work left to do .
(c/w, mech balancing, weapon balancing, map fixes)

a team of 4 people would have to work 62.5 hours a week for the next 4 weeks to meet that goal

team of 8 31.25 hours .

thats not including new maps or new mechs or even bug fixing .

its quite possible that pgi bit off more than it can chew . i refuse to believe that a online mech warrior game would be such a monstrosity to create but apparently it is a huge undertaking that requires quite a bit in resources.

really wish we had some dev blogs that highlighted some of the hurtles they encountered while developing this game.

That reminds me. I'm still waiting for my Marauder.
