Hey...careful there mate. I already triped over your Atlas lance!!
Considering I only own 1 assault and that is a HGN. It wasn't my atlas lance you tripped over. I play almost exclusively jagers, quickdraws, and hunchbacks.

Dude this kind of response isn't really helpful at all. You can easily infer that his point is something along the lines of: "One sided stomps aren't much fun, especially for those on the receiving end. I would like teams to be better balanced in regards to tonnage."

People on your team being 'bad' is pretty much a given in pug games. But I'll disagree and say tonnage does matter. Take two pilots of equal skill, and place one in an Atlas and one in a Blackjack. Who do you think will win, almost every time? Sure, assault pilots do make mistakes, but so do pilots in every other weight category.

Eh I can play a 65 ton jagermech and routinely get 4-8 kills per match. Again tonnage doesnt matter. The problem is mostly bad players. In these YOLO gamemodes we have, all it takes is 1-2 bad players on a team to completely ruin the match. That is why I am a firm supporter of a respawn gamemode.
If youre not a good pilot you shouldnt be in a Blackjack. Its really that simple. Medium mechs are always in a constant uphill battle against heavies and assaults and to be successful in them you have to be a better pilot.
That said, I do believe we need some rudimentary weight class balancing, like a minimum of 2 of each weight class per team, but tonnage balancing will ultimately cause more balance problems. Because players will suddenly realize their 100 ton atlas isnt quite as good as an 85 ton stalker which nets your team a 15 ton advantage as well as being a better mech.

But could you routinely get 4-8 kills per match in mech below 60 tons? And how many of those kills are enemies lighter than you are?

In the current game environment this is very much the case - if there was better tonnage balance the mediums would likely have a better time - at the very least they wouldn't be disadvantaging their team simply by choosing a lighter weight class.

That's true. I also remember how it felt to drop on a team with 4 Awesomes before the ELO system was in place, because it usually meant the enemy team had 4 of the superior Atlas or Stalkers (with weight class balancing). Same can be said for a Dragon next to a Cataphract 3D.
Of course in a game with so many variables its never going to be perfectly balanced, but I share OP's frustration when it comes to overly biased matches. When I lose, I want to feel like I've been outplayed, not outgunned.

It was as helpful as the OP's post. But I'll rephrase my answer.
"I was in a match yesterday were the opposing team had 5 assaults and we had 1 assault. The rest of my team was fast mediums and heavies. I was in a quickdraw-4H. We won. They lost. The game wasn't even close. This happens sometimes. Get over it and move on to another subject. This subject has been covered in depth already."

Solo vs. 4-mans has nothing to do with the subject of weight limits for matches. Take the crusade against organized players to one of the threads already discussing the matter.

Course not. But the way I see it lights and mediums arnt intended to be combat mechs. Theyre supposed to fill other roles in the game like scouting, spotting, harassing, skirmishing/flanking, capping, etc... the problem is all those roles are pretty much useless right now.
When it comes to sheer damage dealing that should purely be the domain of heavies and assaults. Working as intended. We just have to give lights and mediums a little more purpose by upping the importance of their roles. Thats one crucial step towards balancing the weight classes.
