OK, so hunchbacks got the same engine as the Centurions (max 275), what can we do with this?

Some numbers, engines in ascending order (260, 265, 270, 275)

speed: 92.7 94.4 96.2 98.0
weight: 19.5 20 20.5 21.5 (note the extra weight for the extra in-engine heat sink for 275)

I suppose the 270 and 275 will picked most.
You'll get 4.5 Kph more for 1 ton and 5.3 Kph for 2 tons.

Here's a funny thing with the 275 engine. The 275 engine has one in-engine heat sink. If you have 11-13 slots free you can remove a heat sink and take the Fero upgrade. That will free up one ton, so the bigger engine almost pays for itself.
My hunchies were always around that 12 slots free point, so i thought i'd share this with you.

What would you do with a 98 Kph HBK?
The classic 4SP with less heatsinks and bigger engine

Swap some med lasers for small ones in the 4P

or?

Share your ideas for >260 engine HBKs

I tried a fully mastered 4SP with a 275 engine.... that thing twists like a jenner now, wow.

I really like the 4P design and will probably include it in my thread if you don't mind. This is pretty solid. Good cooling efficiency, firepower, dps, and on top of that it's faster.

Yeah, when i saw the stats on that 4P... i really liked it. That in-engine HS and slightly less MedLsrs will really help with the heat issues the 4P has.

As a long-time Hunchback pilot I'm not sure if that matters to me anymore. I'm long used to the 89 km/h tweaked speed provided by the 250 engine, and I don't see any other variants other than 4P would benefit from a raised engine cap.

In fact I don't even think 4P would benefit from that. Too much speed will affect your aiming, especially when your main arsenal is lasers.

All my Hunchbacks ran XL260s. Pretty much with this cap, I will replace their engines with XL265s, as both the XL260 and XL265 share the same tonnage. It is a very expensive change over - but every extra kph is helpful.

If you are running an XL i'd guess you have enough weight left over for a 275?

Why XL if i may ask? I assume it is not for your typical brawling HBK

The 275 gives better maneuvrability to your torso and arms. I can argue that a bigger engine would benefit a 4P when it comes to aiming. I tried that 4P and i have absolutely no problems hitting anything, even spiders! (patch also upgraded torso twists :( )

I'll probably stick with the 250 in my SP. I'm not sure losing three heatsinks is worth 8.9 kph more.

I might finally try a P and throw a 275 on it.

Tbh, i don't really think a faster 4SP is that usefull either. 250/260 should do for that design.

But i wan't to see some creativity form the ppls!

What do you do with a 275 HBK?

Call me crazy, but I'm saving up for the XL 275 just for this: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...08a5c689d15132e

I'd swap some of those heat sinks for armor and/or AMS (I mean, I run my 4G with 8 + 2 and that has an AC20 and an ERLL, so I'd think 15 is probably overkill for your setup) Otherwise looks fun!

Cuddlytron, you are crazy. :(

The streak change made my favourite 4SP viable again, so I gave it a speed boost: 2xLLAS+2xMLAS+2xSSRM2 @98kph.

I believe anyone used to always running will appreciate the added mobility. The Hunchie is even harder to hit now, and the twist speed makes targeting while on the move even smoother.

I used to love that 2LL 2MedL 2SSrm setup

In the mech you posted you shaved off a lot of armor, i'm not sure if 28 in the legs will hold up.

If you want to use XL anyway. Let's try something with long range weapons.

2 PPC
2 LRM 5
3 SmlLsr
XL 275

I tried this with XL 260 before, it doesn't really work on the small maps. But on Alpine Peaks it did.

HBK 4H:
STD 275
U/AC5 +3t ammo
5xML
This setup works really nice for me.HBK-4H std 275, UAC5,5ML

HBK 4SP
STD 275
2xSRM6A
5xML
HBK-4SP std275 2xsrm6A 5xML also works nice

It may look its run really hot but i dont find this is a problem for me. Its great way to learn ur heat discipline ( u will thx me later  ) especially 4SP benefits from more speed bcoz u want be fast when u brawl and outmaneuver ur enemy :D

Well, it is enough with my playstyle (always running). I have been using this long before the streak and mobility changes. If you feel like you need more, you can always drop a heatsink or laser to put that armor back in.

I like the extra speed. I traded my AC20 for and LBX and the new engine. Runs faster, cooler and I find it just as effective, though different than the AC20 build. I think with the speed, I may even try a gauss build running an XL. To me the combination of the improved LBX and the option of the bigger engine made it viable. I can see it running on the P also, as I think most times people run them with too many lasers and they run to hot. I never fear 4P's, they just can dps you.

Yup in my thread which you can find here I added a build like that. The HBK-4G Skirmisher which is the same setup as the AC20 so it loses some firepower but at the same time has increased speed. It works really well. Also if some of you can post some of your ideas in my thread I'd be greatly appreciated. I'm definitely looking to add more.

This is what I run currently:

HBK-4P

Somewhere in the gray area between effective and utter trolling, but great fun to drive. Melts anything and everything (including yourself).

also, people seem to never target a Hunchies legs.

Good points, Rhakhas. 15 DHS are probably overkill on that build. I'll definitely drop a few to pick up AMS and armor. Maybe even switch a couple ML to MPL...

Looking for other ways to run XL 275 in my HBK variants, and I came up with this: HBK-4P. Chain firing the LL should keep the heat manageable, and it packs a nice peekaboo punch when necessary. Now, if only PGI would bump the LL max alpha to 3, this 4P would be in bizness.
