I have been trying to do that, and that leads to another problem. I always seem to have people sneaking up on me. Any help there?

After each shot - assess your situation. Learn the maps and the common routes by which the enemy travels. Keep your eyes open for signs of enemy (red triangles, shooting). You can invest in modules to help your awareness - perhaps seismic sensor or 360 degree target retention, but nothing beats keeping your eyes open and trying to avoid becoming too "tunnel vision" about one enemy.

OP, the thing is that you are probably so focused on getting your shot, you are getting sneaked up upon, that is the job of other lights. Your big gun has a big discharge and most people are going to want to get rid of that big gun on the battlefield.
Your other problem is that you must have sacrificed A LOT to get that big gun in there, which means you might not be nearly as fast as other lights. If you are slow enough that a Raven 2x is getting the drop on you... well, at least you'll be able to say you made a Raven pilot's day.

I see this from time to time (a light mech hauling around some ER weapon, perching and sniping.) Every time, its just a matter of triangulating their position and sending in the appropriate countermeasures. IMHO, not a good use of a light mech.
I don't drive lights much, but when I do, I use them to capture germanium, spot targets, and generally harass the opponent from behind enemy lines. To me, that is their purpose. But that's just me.
Good luck!

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. And I basically took everything out to put it in yes. Nothing but the essentials the ppc, and a couple heat sinks.

Seriously though - depends on which commando variant you have. COM-2D is best known for the 3xStreak and ECM loadout. I run mine with 3 SRM4, but that's just for kicks.
Unless you can hold your own against JR7-F and CDA-3M, you will have to stay with a big friend and play support.
Sniping is done best if you can come at them from the side, when their focus is elswhere. Fire a shot and disappear. If the front line comes to you, then use your speed to get back. The tactic is known as boom and zoom, and is almost 100 years old. Typically employed for close range attacks, but can be adapted to erppc usage as well.

I believe that PPC's only disrupt ECM when they HIT a target running ECM, if you run ECM and fire a PPC, I'm pretty sure it does not disrupt your ECM.
Johnny: You also spelled Marik wrong there, chief.
