No matter how I try, I just cant find something I like better than my Founders Hunchback with its AC20. Now nothing is wrong with that, but I do want something to play along side it. What is everyone's favorite AC20 mech? I have tried the Jagers, Phracts, and Dragons that can use it. The Jagers seem the superior choice for the AC20. Whats everyone elses thoughts?

Yen-Lo-Wang - by far.

My best ride.

If i had to chose just one mech it would be my Wang.

That said i love the AC/20 in general and MY DDC never leaves the mechlab without an AC/20 either.

Edit: I also enjoy the Victor 9S
The Highlander 733C might also be worth a try for you.

Love the Hunchback with an AC20, but I also run an Atlas D with three large lasers, AC20, and 10 SRMs that works really well. Yen Lo Wangs and BJs with the big boy cannons also work fairly well, though I think the arm on the Wang is pretty easy for me to rip off.

I like the YLW, although it has one less energy hardpoint, and is more easily disarmed, than the hunchback.

Some good AC20 builds:

BJ-1 Blackjack. Big XL engine, jump jets, medium lasers. Faster, and more agile than the hunchie and the wang, if more fragile because of the engine.

Victor 9B/9S - with an XLE it's close to the hunchback in speed, but jumps, has heavy armour (to offset the XL engine vulnerability) and missiles, making it an oversized medium.

Dual AC20 Jagermech (with an XL engine to keep a reasonable mobility, making it faster, but more fragile than a dual AC20 boomcat.

That, and the autocannon works quite well on an atlas as a heavy-hitting brawling weapon to use alongside missiles.

AC20/SRM18+A/2xMLas/STD350 Atlas is back IMO.

My favorite mech for a long time was the AC20 hunch but then I discovered the BJ-1.

Like qki said the aglity and jumpjets are it's best feature making it an excellent harasser and light killer. The smaller arms mean i almost never lose the AC-20 before I die. The major weakness is I can only carry 35 rounds so I rarely do more than 500 damage.

Just checked my stats apparently the only weapon I use more than the AC-20 is the med laser and that's only by 30 battles.

Can you post this build? Between the default STD 180, 35 AC-20 rounds, 2 JJ and just 2 med lasers I'm out of space and that's with losing armor.

Thanks.

You need an XL engine to save weight.
1x ac20
1X ML
5x AC20 ammo
4x JJ
1x DHS

XL 235 before speed tweak provides 84.6 kph
288 standard armor
Endo steel

I am not good at driving the mech and shooting at the same time. So my preferred builds are:

Atlas D-DC, ECM, 3xSRM/6 w/2 Tons Ammo, 2xLarge Laser, AC/20 w/3 Tons Ammo, AMS w/1 Ton Ammo, 300 Std Engine, 608 out of 614 Armor (taking off from the leg), 15 Double Heat Sinks.
AC/20 Group 1 Firing, 2xLarge Laser Group 2 Firing, 3xSRM/6 Group 3 Firing.
(This is pretty much a 500 meter mech, anything beyond 500 meter will not be too effective, 500-800 meter is the reduced damage range for the AC/20 and the 2 Large Lasers)

Stalker-M (Misery), 285 STD Engine, AMS w/1 Ton Ammo, AC/20 w/3 Tons Ammo, Large Pulse Laser (center torso), 4xMedium Lasers, Max Armor, 18 Double Heat Sinks
AC/20 and Large Pulse Laser Group 1 Firing, 4xMedium Laser Group 2 Firing
(Again, this is a 500 meter mech, 500-800 meters isn't effective at all, anything beyond 800 meters is beyond this mech's ability)

Yen-lo-Wang
Trebuchet 7k (in fact it is a sleek Hunchback 4G, without the frigging huge torso)
Cataphract 3D WITH Jump Jets and a big STD Engine - Favourite Heavy Brawler of mine

Arm mounted AC/20s seem to be the best for me.

I like the Victor 9B/9S. XL350 & tweak means you're moving around at 78 kph with 4 JJs, 15 tons of armour with 10 tubes SRMs with Artemis & a couple of MLs for back up. There's room for 8 tons of ammo either 6 & 2 or 5 & 3 depending on your preference.

Speed is fun, but if you just want to walk over some mechs, the HGN-733C is my preference. Standard 300 & tweak means you're just under 60 kph (59.4) with 2 JJs for maneuverability with 17 tons of armour to keep you in the fight. With the glitch to the missile tubes atm, it's 6+6+4 with Artemis for the SRMs with 2 MLs for back up. Again room for 8 tons of ammo, although I'd go 5 & 3 or 4 & 4 since you've got an extra SRM6 in comparison to the Victors.

Edit: there was also this BJ-1

I know the HBK-4G is the iconic one, but the 4H is better for running a 20 in this game. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...68004607e4cc016

Same cannon, more lasers. It's not fast, but damn does it hit hard. Ever since the medium tweak patch, it's not just my favourite HBK but my favourite of all the mechs I own. I regularly win 1v1s with assaults in this thing; they underestimate me at 200m, and 2 alphas and 90 damage later, they regret that.

But the best AC20 loadout I have seen? Well, I don't own it so this isn't exact, but it looked something like this: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...bc81baa3d0e751a

For the most part I hate the AC20; you either have to take it in the torso which limits aim or in certain mechs that have no Lower Arm Actuator, which lowers or completely removes the Arm's side travel. One of my favorite designs though is the Victor 9B/S which is pretty heat efficient and packs one hell of a punch. I maxed the JJs to add to the maneuverability keeping it towards the heavy weight class with assault firepower.

I love my YLW, but better players knows to take out that right arm first thing.

It's probably a symmetry thing, but people thinks that you have to put 2 AC20's on a Jager. I just put 1xAC20 and 2xLL on mine and use it like a Wang. Not as fast, but packs a bigger punch.

I currently roll a boomcat (dual ac/20), and I like it a lot. It has a few obvious drawbacks, though, the largest being the huge target of the cat's ct, and the second largest being that you have to mount the cannons in the side torsos, which severely limits your vertical aim and makes installing XL engines (otherwise an advantage of cats) impossible. Also, you can only take 28 shots, if you want to bring two backup medium lasers.
