I mentioned that before in a post that is very old now. I brought up the last post they did as having the date wrong and if they were resetting the timeline. Funny thing was a couple ppl jumped in and was like..... just because they messed the post up does not mean the timeline has changed. Hehe...guess they are eating there words now.

I have no idea what PGI is doing with the timeline... I just want some info on what's happening in the universe, what's happening in the game, and details. Once we have some solid details we can go to town on speculation!

PGI has stopped the timeline idea and has placed it on hold until CW is more implemented. They have thoughts to let the community decide if we should have it reset to 3050 with CW is adequately done and ready to tell the 'story' of the Clan Invasion.

Huh.

What with everything else I've been reading...complaints about this and that, representatives from PGI either alienating the community or outright lying about stuff, I wouldn't believe anything you hear with regard to the clans.

One thing that does need to be pointed out, however, is that PGI has come forward and said that the 'experienced' players within the community (meaning those of us familiar with both the MW series of games and the BT timelines) are NOT their primary focus. They focus virtually everything toward the 'new players'...which, as cynical as I am, I take to mean as 'people most likely to continue to waste their real money for things so we can get rich, quick' as opposed to the more experienced group which is more likely to stop wasting money based on promises that will be broken and cosmetic changes that are ultimately worthless.

As much as I love MWO, I think the guys at Living Legends probably could and would have done a better job...at least as far as implementing the things they say they're going to do and bringing in the content that everyone wants to see.

Actually, it might be a good idea for them to reset it to 3049, so the IS factions can go "pew pew" at each other a while before the Clans show up. (That may have been their plan when they started Closed Beta...But they must have been really optimistic about how quickly they could develop the game.)

If they were going to do that, they should wait until CW is ready, and the Clan content is almost ready.

You only say that because the great house you are supporting takes the brunt of the invasion. Did I say brunt I meant damn near wiped out.

I don't know how to program games or the detail that does into programming but I am thankful for PGI for their work in getting this game of the ground and for doing great job of making things work (mechs, terrain, weapons, etc) I'd like to see collisions/falling down damage brought back though. When the Clans show up they show up. the IT people are having problems/issues w/the UI 2.0 and those take time. Remember the adage, 'Rome wasn't built in a day'. :D

Breaking news from the Oberon Confederation:

Comstar reports that rumours of a "mysterious invasion" into the Periphery Worlds of the Oberon Confederation turned out to be a hoax. Comstar officials, as well as observers from the Draconis Combine and the Federated Commonwealth have returned from a three month exploratory committee, stating "No signs of hostilities, whatsoever."

A senior official went further to state, "The Oberon Confederation is at peace, and firmly in control of all of its claimed planets. There has been no serious military conflict of any kind within the last two years."

Another official speculated that the rumours were spread by a small child, one who fooled the entire planet of Sigurd into thinking that he fell down a well, and the year before that, he had pretended to be trapped on a gas balloon floating into the atmosphere.

I for one expect that the Clans are pretty much done and we're mostly just waiting on community warfare. Let's face it, PGI should already have down the basics of designing mechs and they've known which mechs they need to design for a long time. As far as balancing clan technology against IS tech.. be honest, we all expect the Clans to be OP anyway. It would be wrong if the Clans came into the scene and were no better than the IS. Making the forum banners and flags that make up the entirety of House distinction right now, would also not be a complicated process. Even if they hadn't worked on such things at all up until now, they could probably start working on the clan versions tonight and have something available for the 17th. The real issue is that players want some kind of "community warfare" beyond just being able to form their own lances and their own companies to drop into the current arena matches. Most people seem to want this to include starcharts and several new (and different) maps. People also want some kind of house loyalty system and other advantages/disadvantages for each house. These are things which take effort and time in order to implement in a reasonable manner.. and people seem to be insisting that community warfare be introduced BEFORE the clans release. Honestly, with the current affairs being that there's no difference whatsoever between houses anyway, I see no reason to insist that CW take place before clanners are allowed to fly their true colors. As far as the tech.. well.. quick.. someone name a piece of in game tech that hasn't been bugged, overpowered, or needlessly altered since it was released..

OK i was talking this over semi-seriously with a friend of mine. Clans where suppose to launch q3 2014 when UI 2.0 was suppose to be out in what april-mayish?

So you gotta figure with UI 2.0 not hitting by tomarrow and PGI's reluctance to say WHEN now UI 2.0 will come out mid to late october is the earliest that can come out. that pushes the clans back by 4-5 more months so that's now q4 2014 to q1 2015.

BUT now you have to factor in CW which apparently hasn't seen jack anything for work on it. Seeing as how it's a much larger project than UI 2.0, was suppose to have been ingame already as well and is bound to have it's troubles your NEW optimistic Clan time frame is around q1-q2 2016.

as in GOOD F**KIN LUCK ever seeing it

edit: This is drawn on the simple fact that UI 2.0 was suppose to hit this game in Jan/Feb it's now 8 months behind schedule.

A new UI is far easier to do up than all the nonesense CW is going to bring with territory control, the map itself, factons, pledging alligences, stores for factions. it's a massive project.. clans are gonna bring a whooole new slew of issues with all their weapons and their additions to the CW map.

Sorry bud, CW is what most of us want to see in this game, since they teased it in PC Gamer back in closed beta.

Never said I didn't want to see CW as well, I'd like to have a reason to play this game instead of just blast the mechs because.

I just don't think anyone could of seen PGI's crippled snail pace of devlopment.

don't know when they're planning on releasing the clans, but as long as this game is still up and running I am playing. That said if the timeline is moved great if not well comstar holds the clans off a year behind schedule

Actually, if I read that right, it was that they would be ready to show the artwork for the Clan mechs and maybe begin testing Q1/Q2 of 2014, which would normally mean Q3/Q4 of 2014 for possible release if PGI could actually stick to schedules and meet deadlines. Based on their track record, I'd say late Q4 2014 (Christmas) or 2015 is the most likely.
