As there's no discussion thread for Thomas D's breakdown thread, i'll start one here.

Not only will it not work when moving, you can cheat it with firing on the ground, that could be very helpful and would be true information warfare.

btw. one question for Heatsinks - if you have engines below 250 (i.e. STD200), do you still get 10 "2.0" DHS even if 2 of them are outside or do you only get 8 x 2.0 and 2 x 1.4?

And did anyone ever saw an ams shooting down dumbfire SRMs?

The latter, 8 x 2.0 + 2 x 1.4.

Did you test that?
If it's true, that is really gimping a mech.

On the other hand, more internal DHS are still 1.4x (like in a 360 with 4 extra, you only get 10 x 2.0 and 4 x 1.4).

If it's true, that is really gimping a mech.

Not only is it tested by players, it's "working as intended" according to the devs.

And yes, it feels more than a bit cheap to be needlessly and pointlessly cheated out of a really minor amount of heat for no apparent reason (4-second Jenners notwithstanding). On my Commandos I usually run with XL195 engines; these come with 7 "true" DHS and I have to add another three 1.4 DHS to make them drop-legal - which means instead of 20.0 heat capacity I only have 18.2.

Not the biggest of differences, but as I said, needless and pointless.

As for the 4-second Jenner; these usually run with 250+ engines and aren't even affected by this. Most of the other lights though suffer from this - I know I repeat myself, but it's so incredibly stupid - needless and pointless rule.

Here, one more time: Needless and pointless ;)
