I am not sure where to put this and get exposure, but what exactly does this mean?

There is no additional context to go with, so was there something wrong with the engine weights?

I know the XL 370 (I think) had the incorrect weight but that was posted a LONG time ago.

Really fast Locusts, apparently.

Ya, I just noticed that a rating 190 would make it faster than all other mechs but what about the engine weights?

Hmmm. How fast would the Locust go with an XL 190, anyways?

Speed is calculated as (engine rating / 'mech tonnage) * 16.2, so (190 / 20) * 16.2 = 153.9 before speed tweak. With 15% speed tweak it'd be 176.99.

Edit: Here's hoping they've finally broken the speed barrier.

Dayum. Maybe the Locust won't be completely DoA after all (and maybe we can FINALLY get the friggin' Flea after Phoenix and Saber are done with).

Or they'll just cap it at 151.9 like every other 'mech and just say "speed tweak? Use it to mount a smaller engine and more weapons".

Damn, I shouldn't give them ideas, but I'm old and cranky today...

That would make the large engine only good for saving crits on double heat sinks... you'd actually not gain anything once you get the speed tweak (since the 170, that was the current limitation for the Locust would already give you the speed equal to Spider). I really hope they somehow managed to finally fix the speed limits.

After toying around in Smurfys, it would appear that the engine limit change on the Locust will allow it to pack an XL190, 10 DHS, Endo, FF, 4 MGs, 2 tons of ammo, and 1 MPL all at the same time. Still not meta-worthy by any means, but certainly an improvement. There may be a reason to use a build other than 1 LL and 2 MGs! *GASP*

That sounds like a build I'd love to run :(

Well, hopefully they
1. Fixed the speed limit, and
2. Made it so sub-100 engines don't have negative weight.

Because that can only mean one thing: URBIE! :(

(for those of you lacking in Urbie-lore, it needs a 60-rated engine which is currently not possible in MWO)

The downside here is that PGI's engine limits would restrict poor little Urbs to a mere 84 engine (rounded up to 85). 52.7 KPH with speed tweak.

I'm also afraid of the bloodbath that would happen if PGI put it on the trial mech rotation, lol. URBIE BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! URBIE SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!

And not a single damn was given. It's the Urbie :(

(although if they fix the speed limit, they may well tweak it on the lower end as well)

With 4x MGs and only 1 MPL that generates any semblance of heat, you are not that dependent on DHSs anyways, so 4x MGs + MPL +XL170 was already doable.

The main advantage of XL190 over XL170 on this build would thus be the speed boost.

A variant with 5 energy slots on the other way...

Well, an MPL has a heat per second of 1.39, and the base cooling for 10 SHS is 1.0 heat per second...basically you can slowly overheat yourself even with just one MPL. It would be more noticeable on the severe overabundance of hot maps like Mordor that we have due to the heat efficiency debuff those maps have. DHS makes it not have to worry about Mordor.
