The target audience is the high-paying Assault pilots that will buy 40 dollar Assault hero mechs. The target audience of this game is not those playing light mechs, or else PGI would have developed A SINGLE PIECE OF NEW CONTENT for the light mech class in the last 6 months, but that hasn't happened.
Tell me about the Locus and how that's not a light mech. Tell me about how lights are about to get a balance pass and boost their speed. Tell me about how ECM doesn't protect you bads day in and day out from running across the open instead of being a "hidden" agent of death? Tell me how PGI doesn't punish you from not being a team player using TAG, NARC, and calling out enemy positions? Tell me about how you play this game like 130kph brawler running though enemies without any consequence?

Lights should fall down or stop when they run into objects at 130kph... That's called piloting, something you may have never heard of or had to practice.

yes light mechs can be a serious nuisance but I think a lot of it will be dealt with when the hitboxes for the little buggers are actually working properly

Because it should be in before they add MASC

The post I was replying to was ignoring the issue of knock-downs. Mentioning them (knock-downs) in such a context neither adds to the point I was trying to make, nor does it detract from said point.

Too true. As for knockdowns I don't think they are ever coming back the way they were. I do think they will be back but will likely be part of a "Melee combat expansion". After all ramming, Death From Above, kicking and punching are all good ways to get "overly affectionate" mechs off of you.

Maybe you should pilot some, try ^ and see what happens instead babbling bs.
It's amusing that the biggest screams for collision or assault/heavy pilots that believe they should be able to stomp around and knock over anything in their path or that touches/bumps them... I'd suggest checking those old TT collision/charge rules and think about that for awhile first.

The spiders were under my guns so I couldn't effectivley fire on them and I could not move to engage the heavy mechs attacking me.It was exploitive in the extreme.
Also did I mention the spiders where spamming flamers into my field of view the entire time?

One particular poster in this thread likes to bray to everyone about how great he is and how he is a top competitive player but in the 3 or 4 matches I've dropped with him he's died early and while doing little damage.
The only light I have any real issue with is the broken Spider........that doesn't mean that what I said earlier is any less true.......1 in 10 may have the skill to maintain the ability to swarm a large mech in their lights, but the other 9 will likely die horribly once they are unable to bounce off the legs of their target as they rush through on their banzai runs.
Now light boys, please continue defending the indefensible.

From a "balance" perspective, it's pretty freaking LOL that 2-3 Jenners can tear an Atlas a big new one. I still see that scrap happen often.
Assault mechs shouldn't be food for lights. lol...
The problems that keep knockdowns and collisions from returning are the exact same ones that make lights so hard to hit. Fixing one fixes the other. So sorry you're idea of putting back in knockdowns to balance wouldn't work. What would happen is the light would fall and warp all over the place, causing players to hit their own teammates more often than not.
Source? My own experience of it in CB.
As for Assaults being food for lights. Sorry thats how it works in the TT as well. Heck I've even see lone CLAN Heavy Mechs such as the Vulture, Madcat, and Loki get soloed by Jenners, Ravens, and Owens. Those things aren't slow even by MWO standards (81kph). But terrain and jumpjets can wreck things.
I've also been able to shred assault mechs in light mechs in every iteration of MechWarrior. From MW2, to MW3, and even MW4 and MWLL. So why should MWO be different?
1 Player = 1 Player - Regardless of tonnage, period. And the Devs believe this as well.
Now.. if you're getting shredded by lights continuously, you're doing something wrong. Try running some lasers and keeping your back to a wall, or running with a wingman. Doesn't have to be a 2 man group, just run alongside someone when you drop into a game.
Also... 2-3 Jenners vs an Atlas is 2-3 vs 1. Should that same Atlas be able to take on 2-3 highlanders too? I don't think so. 1 mech = 1 mech.

Physics what is it
E = 1/2 mv^2
Looks like velocity has much more power behind in than weight...
Atlas @ 60KPH = 13877.78
Jenner @ 150 KPH = 30372.22
(I think the units are Kilojoules, but I didn't convert tons to KG before the calc... I did do kph -> m/s though)

Hey, smartie, it's still 5 players vs 3 players. Also comparing lights to assaults isn't a direct comparison, they have different pros and cons and it's not like 5 small apples vs 3 big apples. It's more like 5 blueberries vs 3 kumquats.
