The steady stream build philosophy makes sense, but the 4+ sustainable DPS of your builds is low.
The top Heavy Mech builds can achieve 6-10 DPS even with 1.5+ heat efficiency.

For example: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b630110124de05f
7 sustained DPS with 1.54 heat efficiency.

Steady stream builds are all about using only the most heat efficient weapons and avoiding having too many of the same to avoid the heat penalty.
At present I find these the best for their heat: medium laser, large laser, AC5, AC20, SRM4/6, LRM5.

You're not wrong, but I don't think so much attention has to be paid to sustained DPS. I think time-to-overheat is much more important, because that's how long you can fire without restraint, maximizing your DPS. The 30 second range is plenty of time to do what you need to do. Sustained DPS is holding back and limiting your damage potential.

Yes, I agree 30 seconds is a good time to aim for.

I used to run my K-2 with 2 ERPPC, but as you say, heat was always a pretty big issue. I switched to ERLL and found it works much better. I am currently running 2 ERLL, 2 med lasers, and 1 LBX-10 with XL 305....I have found this to be a beast of a build...fast with good hitting power at all ranges. Oh, and advanced zoom makes this an excellent hit and run sniper.
