Aff. It has its advantages, just like some second liners. I would kill for a Stalking Spider, however. :)

Defecting implies I was not performing my duty as a Nova Cat under deep cover. The watch must get its information somewhere, quiaff?

Who else is defecting to the Clans the minute CW starts?

I have wanted to be part of Clan Wolf since day 1 when I started playing. I have just been waiting patiently to wear my clan colors with pride when PGI finally allows us to pick a faction.

I agree. Loadout wise that mech is near perfect. I just tend to take a holistic view on a mech, incorporating loadout, placement, and physical design.

A shame, really, that it has that flaw in an otherwise perfect mech. However, it makes sense given it was crafted by Clan Wolf hands, quiaff?

It makes sense given it was not designed to be featured in a real time videogame, quiaff? :D

Clan lingo is fun but a little odd to learn.

Freebirt! Enough of this stravag talking! We are warriors, not surats and we shall fight to be a ristar and realize our interpretation of the Great Father's vision, quiaff? Warriors shall earn a Bloodname of a valuable Bloodheritage and serve their Clan after their death with their genetic legacy. I will get some lines in the Remembrance, my trothkin, this is my rede. I hope if i will fail you will forgive me if i perform i rite of Surkai You should accept it and abide by the surkairede, or you will be regarded as a dezgra chalcas, quiaff? And i do not mind if you are the best of your sibko, in my eyes you are only a trashborn and i shall show you that your superiority is only presumed, savashri! You are poweless, not better than a solhama, i will take you as my bondsman, your giftake as isorla and then cut your bondcord granting you hegira (assuming you have not performed a bondsref) following the Way of the Clans as laid down by our Founder Nicholas Kerensky. Seyla! :P

Challenges and epithets should not be taken as personal offenses but only as example of a colorful monologue full of Clan words , explicitely written to give a headache to every stravag Inner Sphere "warrior" who reads it.

I was given to understand that most of the Clans regarded spies as barely better than bandits from the dark caste

Too bad you Nova Cats do not have AFAIK an excuse from the lore for fighting in the Inner Sphere (We have Wolf's Dragoons, gne gne ;) ).

Honor to my Nova Cat trothkin! And please stop use that stuff to have visions about the future, they are not good for your health

Actually, you Wolves provide the excuse. ;) Some of us were allowed by to observe and participate in very limited actions by your Khan, IIRC. Not sure if it was because as far as the other Clans go, pre-invasion Nova Cats were not one of the more nucking futz Crusader clans out there (being slightly crusader pre-invasion, full on warden afterwards), was because we somehow managed to not **** off the Wolves at any real juncture, or because we let them partake of the peyote. Either way, I claim top bunk! :P

Edit: Alternate excuses may or may not include unsupervised playtime with Dadga feline kittens. Mind the venomous spines.

"While not a major part of the initial invasion, elements of the Nova Cat Keshik were allowed to aid Clan Wolf in their invasion of the Periphery world of Drask's Den. Khans Leroux and Carns celebrated the victory, ignoring further warnings from their Oathmaster, The rest of the periphery fell just as quickly as Drask's Den and contact was soon established with ComStar.
Due to their limited role in the invasion, Clan Nova Cat was chosen to be the escort to ComStar ambassador Precentor Martial Anastasius Focht, transporting him to the Clan flagship Dire Wolf via the True Vision. Oathmaster Biccon Winters, seeing Focht as a threat, attacked the Precentor Martial, and only conceded when she lost a Trial of Refusal to SaKhan Lucian Carns. The Clans would go on to ally with ComStar in a limited role."

I missed these facts.. And i thought i knew everything i had to know about the invasion! <_<

Besides, i really honor you for choosing to represent a minor less famous Clan

Aff, I suppose. How do you think we pacified worlds? Senseless violence? That would be madness, quiaff? Our scientist caste long discovered the ultimate weapon comes in infant feline form. It possesses the power to turn even the most well trained, hard spirited Elemental into a weak at the knees Sibko recruit.

Unless they were dog people.... Or allergic.

Edit: Damn. Now I cannot get the following image out of my head....

"We are of Clan Nova Cat. With what forces do you defend this planet? We bid... a cardboard box full of kittens.... Or death. We could bid death, but we strongly urge you to look at the kittens....."

Well, you could bid a cardboard box of baby actual-Surats...

"The surat is a small bat-like creature native to the clan world of Glory. Its body and face resemble that of a primate, as does its long gripping tail with which it can easily attach itself to objects. Surats are mostly friendly creatures and feed on fruits, insects and whatever they can find; lower-caste Clansmen sometimes keep them as pets. However, their overwhelming cuteness combined with their appetite for and ability to open human food storage cases has turned their name into an epithet throughout Clan space."

Baby monkey-bats vs spiny kittens... cute-off, go! <_<

The text I quoted is originally from Classic BattleTech Companion, so it is (or, at least, was) the official description.

Also, the pictured specimen would appear to be fully grown.
As such, it would have to be compared to a fully-grown Nova Cat - in which case, it could be considered in the eyes of some to be cuter (in the same way that Capuchin monkeys trained for performance can be considered cute)? <_<

Finally... maybe Clanners just have somewhat strange notions of what constitutes "overwhelming cuteness"?
