Can we get an update on DX11? Last update was shortly after the launch event it would be up on the public test servers.

You are not allowed to communicate directly with PGI on these forums, please rephrase your question. :D

Also, i would LOVE a DX11 update!

Yeah. What's going on with this? Is it still causing stability issues? If it gets delayed, will it affect the release of UI 2.0?

Russ tweeted that is would happen this week....3 weeks ago.

We have gone from before launch, to "this week", to no ETA.

Oct update implied DX11 and parts of UI2 coming this month but looks like typical PGI fashion that was wishful thinking.

It shouldn't. Not sure why the UI would use any Dx11 specific features. Unless the same people are working on it of course but barely any game really does much with Dx11 anyway.

Bryan tweeted earlier today that they are pushing a build of ui2 to PTS because dx11 isn't ready yet

That's good. Dx11 is just icing on the cake really. A lot of content depends on the new UI. As long as it or any other substantial feature doesn't get delayed, they can take all the time they need on the graphical stuff.

It's funny... In April/May they mentioned DX11 on twitter...
In July we were expecting it either that month or early August on the PTS.
They scheduled a public test in the 3rd week of august, but the day before the test they removed it because of an issue that was inhibiting their ability to receive telemetry...
Sept 13th we have a post that it should be "soon"
We were told that it will arrive after the launch party.
And so far we have nothing.. But it sounds promising.. (de ja vu back to April/May)

Anyways, I shouldn't be like that, but those are the facts. It sounds like it's been being worked on a lot, and there's some big hold ups... I just hope that at this rate they've been working on adding other DX11 features like improved lighting, tesselation, and so forth while the telemetry thing gets worked out.

But I think anything extra over the basic DX11 at this point is 0% chance of that happening, and if anything extra like that was included, my chair would fall out from under me, then I would float upwards into my cieling, it would be that amazing.

I fail to see why. Regardless of when they release content, they are releasing it for us to use free of charge. this game is free to play. these changes are not pay to upgrade. this forum really needs to be less entitled.

So "it's free to play" has become the new "it's still in beta" when it comes to a counter-argument regarding content release.

No. It's always been free to play. That's not new. This game needs money to develop and time to develop it. It's an on going development for exactly that. They've made an excellent game which is a lot of fun. They tell us more will come. I trust they want more money, so more content will come. It takes years to develop a good game and this is already a great game. More will only make it better, so why is waiting such a problem. Enjoy the game PGI has made for us!

Nico's post a month ago in the testing forum (which we're not permitted to respond to):

---

A quick update regarding DX11 and Public Testing.

For the last 2 weeks we have been preparing for a public test of DX11. The internal goal was to run a meaningful public test for DX11 this side of launch, however, during the internal testing phase a crash bug was uncovered specific to DX11 that prevents us from collecting meaningful feedback regarding DX11.

The Public Test servers are at this moment being provisioned for the launch event with an updated version specifically for that tournament.

The delay testing DX11 on the Public Test servers is not expected to impact UI 2.0 development.
Work continues in the background on resolving this stability problem; and it is expected to be fixed by the time the launch event is finished. We expect the DX11 public test to be shortly thereafter.

---

Since then... radio silence.

I do wonder myself what in the world is so crippling that it is constantly delaying DX11. I'm no stranger to having an expectation of a feature causing problems that pushed my completion time far off. Things happen, they don't just press a button.

I was rigging a character once before and spent 3-4 hours groaning at why the facial rig wasn't working, it'd constantly flip out and refuse to work. I found out after all that time that the mesh's edit history wasn't deleted, thus causing problems with the rig binding. This forced me to effectively rebind the entire character from scratch, consuming another 3-4 hours that had the history been cleaned I'd not have to do. Considering they seem to be prying deep into the CryEngine.... I can only imagine what the hell is being unleashed in their offices to cause these delays. I certainly hope their engineers write up an essay for us to read the history leading into this.

I've done similar about 8 years ago when I didn't know I could just snap shot the mesh and use a built in function hidden in max to transfer weights with a few clicks XD.

And yeah, I really won't be stamping my feet over DX11 when Brian said they have CE issues. I can sympathize with CE engine bugs...

The impression I'm getting from twitter coms and forums posts, is that they are still fixing a couple of major DX11 bugs, and also more recently something related to CryEngine.

They won't put it on PTS until everything they know about is fixed, otherwise what's the point?!

I hope they make it possible for people with dx10 compatible cards play. My GTX285 apparently cant handle dx11...but can run the game now on ultra with no problem...

Guy: A GTX650 Ti is moar powerful then a GTX280; a GTX650TI BOOST meets the "three tiers" recommendation.

You've held off quite enough …
