Creating A Second Account

I royally screwed up the allocation of my cadet bonus, buying two mechs with insufficient equipment to support them. I would like to start over from scratch, using MC to purchase a mech and the cadet bonus simply to acquire the equipment. Will creating a new account using a different email address achieve this goal? Better yet, can I migrate the email address of my current account to a different email address so I can create a fresh account and retain the email address I am currently using?

Has anyone else tried this? How has this turned out?

This is a good choice. My advice is to pick up a Hero 'mech so you get even more money out of your Cadet Bonus. A new account should work fine, but I'm not sure about the migration between email addresses. My guess, however, is that it will work just fine.

I say, depends on what you have royally screwed up. Can you use smurfy (http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab) and post what you have right now (or just give what you've bought or done?) Otherwise yeah just create a new account or ask for deletion (not sure how that would go though.)

Edit: saw what you've posted over there. Just to let you know you must master different chassis, basically 3 variants with enough xp to get through basic, and then elite, then master. I think you might want to restart now, next time the best thing to do is to plan using smurfy. Maybe what you can try is to get the C1 into something more your style (assuming you like med lasers, since Jenner is normally with med lasers.) You might want to restart, though I think you can master both variants and then chassis. You should fit both mechs into your style, then decide whether or not you want to make a second account.

To clarify for those that follow, chassis is the mech type, ie Jenner, Awesome etc. Variants are the Raven 3L, 2X, and 4X. Class refers to weight, ie Light, Medium, Heavy and Assault.

You have to complete all the Basics on 3 variants of a chassis, to unlock Elite for all variants of that chassis. (note if you bought a 4th variant, you would still need to fill all Basic skills before being able to spend points on Elite skills).

Once you have filled out Elite on 3 mechs of a class, then you unlock Master on any mech you have completed Elite on.

You cannot migrate or wipe an account. you're free to sign up a new account with a new email address and a new account name, though. (There are rule restrictions against using multiple accounts on the forum to cause unrest but this doesn't apply to having more than one account for gameplay)

If you make a new account, nothing bad will happen to the previous one. It sucks that one can 'screw up' one's Cadet bonus, but at least you'll be better prepared the next time around.

Did something similar myself. NOT the best idea ever.

Turns out, you'll have to re-achieve all the things you've achieved already.

I was in my old account yesterday. I had over 220,000 XP saved up on the one mech left there. MASTERed. EVERY SINBLE PILOT SKILL TREE unlock is now ... unlocked ...

Not quite so on the new account.

It matters.

A trick i use so that you can use one email account is sub addressing. Some services support it (gmail for sure) and works well for situations like this.

I have an additional account I made to test a few things and used this method so it all goes to the same in box. Not sure if it appears to PGI as 2 address or one so this may not be necessary. I just know it works.

Example:
Current email is your.name@gmail.com
Sub addressed: your.name+mechs@gmail.com

You can use any tag you like after the plus it certainly doesn't have to be mechs.

A little explanation on subadressing and its potential uses.

Perhaps you could just continue with your current account. Sure it'll be a struggle, but you might just gain something from it.

My first mech was unmodded initially too (hunch 4sp)

sure im skint for Cbills and need to rat parts n modules from one variant to another but things will get better, not far off a fourth module slot for yen lo :)

It's bad for everyone, but yeah. Even with cadet bonus, it's slim pickins out there.
