I now have over 3000 matches played and I decided to start working on my K/D ratio.

In the beginning the K/D ratio is meaningless and can rapidly flip below/over 1.0. Also, you don't have modules and are not familiar with the game, you do your best. Then you buy more Mechs and start testing out differents builds.

Well, like many (but not everyone) I never really cared about my K/D ratio, and today I decided to get better stats and this mean a different gameplay which is nice after 3000+ plays.

I was 0.85 a few days ago and now I'm at 0.88. When you have 3K+ matches played it takes some time to raise the ratio. As I write this, I need to do 288 kills without getting killed to get at 1.0 so that could take a while because of course I'll get killed a few times...

But I'm working on it, and mostly play using the best outfitted Mechs.

So, what's you K/D ratio? Read it here.

Avg. XP Per Match 652.94

Best mech:

Jager-S dual gauss
513 total games
1.64 W/L
2.58 K/D

Worst mech with more than 50 games:

Not really. The guys who play in premades get up into the >6.0 range (at least some claim). :(

The key to high K/D is to figure out a way where you could consistently engage in scenarios that are overwhelmingly favorable to you.

For my Jager I stick to engagements at long distance, engagements where I would be targeted last, or engagements where I have cover that allows me to select the moment when I pop out and take an accurate shot. This means that I pay a lot of attention to terrain, to the relative dispositions of my team and the enemy team, and to their intentions, and constantly adjust my position accordingly.

For the DDC it means keeping hidden, selecting the right opportunities for a fight, and making sure I'm always with a viably sized group of team mates and that I understand the intentions of my teammates before committing to a fight.

For those premade guys, of course, they can create those scenarios at will by coordinating over voice comms.

^^ Agree. I'm average and just above 2. Most of the good players are 6 +

Ok so ti looks like I suck but I consider myself not too bad... when I want, I can deliver. it's just that most of the time I go for the fun factor, maybe sometimes pushing it a bit hard and other time trying some crazy builds... Oh well!

Whatever, I will try to get a green number... :D I won't sleep better but you know...

Don't forget KDRs have been skewed favorably by the past 8 months of OP Metas.

I would point out that by definition there are an equal number of kills as there are deaths. That means that total kills / total deaths always = 1.0

Therefore the average (arthmatic mean) K/D is 1.0.

The median K/D would be really interesting though! As would a look by quartile, quintile or even percentile (splitting the player base into bins and looking the average by bin). The stats nerd in me would like to see a break down by quintile, by chassis.

I find that the vast majority of people who claim really high #'s tend to be speaking of a very specific set of circumstances or Mechs, not their overall statistics. Much the same when they claim 400pt damage games on average etc.

I don't even consider a KDR in a given Mech "cemented" or even vaguely indicative of a truth, until it's at 100 matches or more (I have 70 mastered Mechs but only 4900 matches).

For example, I have a Mech with a KDR of 34:1 and it's a Hunchie....but only 15 matches in it. That's a fun streak, not a true indicator of how anyone is? My Dragon 1C is 11:1....all of the others hover between 2.67-3.24. The -1C is just a fluke.

My Misery is 5.5:1 after 105 matches...that's consistent imo and worth considering somewhat accurate. But I have plenty of Mechs dragging my overall KDR down to a more reasonable statistical level simply because I never enjoyed playing them or
just couldn't get good in them.

KDR is a great stat to look at but honestly, not even the first one I would consider in evaluating someone's abilities in this game if all you had was stats to consider.

Problem is if you like leveling new mechs thats gonna kill your KDR, some mechs just plain suck *** before you get the basics under your belt.

3799 matches played............ 1.25 KDR. Some mechs at 2.0, others at .7 or so.

Why is it a problem?

Your overall KDR is of significantly less importance than your KDR in a given chassis tbh. Why sweat the overall? You're going to go through the same problems you noted above, so why let it carry any weight?

my KDR is 1.87 (damn near strictly pug and other than that maybe 100 of 3,000 matches were 4 or less man)

Typically I'll get a kill, two if I'm doing well or they're doing bad, and 3+ if I'm part of a great team.

5346 matches
1.62 K/D
1.12 W/L ratio

I have mechs that I play a lot that are near the 3.0 mark, but I also many that are near the 0.5 mark (you can guess which ones I like to play more). Granted, if my stats went back to when I started playing at the start of open beta, they would be much worse.
