This game cannot compete with Planet Side 2 or even League of Legends. I am not sure what it is but for some reason the major turn off for me was the lack of music. For some reason the lack of music is a huge turn off.

I even forked out 15 bucks to buy an HA mech. I then find myself unable to play with it after a few games because I do not have an engine equiped. Now don't get me wrong, the load out is a pretty cool feature with this game. But something is missing here and I am not sure what exactly it is...

What this game needs:

1. Built in voice chat

2. Music (is there any? Maybe I have not found the option)

3. Defined roles/classes for mechs. (Sniper, Skirmisher, Bruiser, Logistic(healer), Jammer, etc....

4. More then just death matches. There needs to be something else.

5. Noises, animations when you're loading out your mech.

I honestly think that this game should use League of Legends as a model and make it more competitive. Riot games did it right. Yes, this is MoW... But something has to give.

Now as for F2P the game is good but Planet Side 2 is great. The only reason I am going to give this game a go is because I used to LOVE the mech warrior games.

OK, straight - you are right.
You are right.
I feel guilty a bit for founding and the like..

1. Score for Mudhutwarrior I'd say. Or get on Teamspeak say the others.
2. Mechwarrior2 had awesome Music. Maybe we get it sometime like we got original Betty (Carole Ruggiere or so...).
3. That's what they promised, then the cheese set in...
4. Turrets incoming!!
5. yeah, this one is obvious...UI 2.00. We may get a complete User Interface overhaul within the next 2-52 weeks. including sounds.

Good luck and have faith since they did most things right.

Hi Torothin
The main drawback of this game is that its a real insider game.
So if terms like *Battletech* and *Mechwarrior* are new to you, you will have a realy realy hard time to grasp the reasons and backgrounds of anything in this game.

Long story short:
There are Mech roles:
-- Light Mechs: Harrasser and Scout/Spotters
-- Medium Mechs: Bodyguards and Lighthunters or sometimes light combat support Mechs, heavy Scouts ( no, I dont think meds are effective brawlers)
-- Heavys: fire support and dmg dealers, sometimes artillery, and maybe Brawlers (no I dont think any mech should brawl, go play S4 League or Mortal Combat if you want to brawl)
-- Assault: Heavy fire support and tanks sometimes super heavy artillery

And yes there are freightloads of things missing in this game. Its because the devs were forced to put an alpha game out in beta and an early beta game out in the wild.
Maybe it gets hard and will survive and grow maybe it will die.....
We'll see

There are lots of roles but the definitions are much softer than other games. you don't say 'this mech is a sniper, nothing BUT a sniper, end of story.' you define your role with your loadout and your playstyle. Scouts, harassment, ECM support, target spotting, LRM boats, fire support, brawlers, flankers, skirmishers, tanks, snipers, all have a place on the battlefield. you just need to build it that way and play it that way, instead of picking 'sniper character A' or 'Brawler character B'

more than death matches is a valid concern, and they have promised us more than deathmatches. The much-awaited Community Warfare segment of the game is where we get "more". control of planets, economics, territory, manufacturing ,buying your own dropship, managing your forces, earning valor for your faction, all are part of CW.

1. Desperately. However there are public teamspeak groups with meet and greet policies. Can someone link this player to them?

2. Music -- oddly enough there was in game music during the "test" version of the upcoming user interface. There is 'mention' but no promises of "music" at the start and end of each match. Many described music during a match to be a "tactical turn-off." I run my own music when I'm not recording or add it to my vids after the fact.

3. This is difficult. In closed beta it was very easy to do with the limitations of standard engines, hardpoints, no 'pilot skill tree' which made the mechs all feel very unique.

Today, everyone tries to make them into identical rigs and mechs run very similarly after the pilot skills. A revamp to that is very necessary. (After elite skills doubles basics, acceleration goes up by 55% for example, making it difficult to tell the difference between an elited Atlas and a basic-unlocked Jenner in acceleration.)

4. See Redshift's post.

5. Many feel this way. Some life in the mechbay would mean something.

No, please don't. I want to define my role on the battlefield, not the variant of the 'Mech I'm piloting.

Music is not needed for this game. I just loop "Old enough to Rock and Roll" on my walkman while playing. Chappy would have wanted it that way.

Planetside 2 isn't even popular anymore. That game got stale a long time ago.

Not to be hostile but planetside 2 sucks at the moment.

It was great in closed beta but now

well

it's an fps....basically. Not combined arms like it is supposed to be. Arma 3 has filled that hole for me rather well.

You can occasionally drive a cardboard box around but really....who cares.
