guess what, i bought myself a HGN733C some days ago, for 12-man-competetive-matches, dropped maybe 30-40 times with it, and i feel the mech is scrap (well, not scrap, but not good). BUT the mech is scrap for ME. that doesn't mean it's scrap for everyone.
i jumped into my AWS-9M again yesterday just for fun, and my performance (kills, damage, matchscore, everything) rocketed upwards like crazy.

But i see people performing absolutely incredible with the HGN733C, so maybe it's me who can not play with it. Same goes for you and the awesome. So please stop the scraptalk about "Awesome is not playable blablabla"... i'm so effing sick of it...

Freakin' awesome vid, dude. XD I really loved it - and am even considering buying an Awesome because of it!

just do it!
the feeling when you own a match in an awesome (or at least perform good in it) is the best thing about it. be prepared that your teammembers will call you an ***** in the prematch-screen... and then show them what you can do in an awesome.
But before you go and buy an awesome, keep in mind that this really is "hardmode", and you really have to learn how to use the mech, and that this will take some time.
And don't get frustrated when it doesn't work like you want it to work, just keep going, tweak your loadout a bit. at some time you will reach the point where matches become awesome

oh, don't take me wrong... it didn't treat me well for a long time
I first got an AWS-8R as a LRM-Boat, that thing was fun, yes.
Then i bought my AWS-9M, and... oh my god, it was so effing horrible, i was barely able to score 100 damage in a match, so i left the mech in my garage to collect some dust.
Some time later, i needed a free mechbay for something else, and there was this 9M. I looked at it and said "you, my friend... you suck, i think i will sell you now". but then i thought that this thing costs 11.5 million cbills, so i wanted to give him a last try. 10 matches, and if not a single one ends at least average for me, then i will sell the mech. And guess what? Now the 9M is my most used mech, i only use other mechs for alternation, but when i want to play serious, it's always my 9M

Nice! That's always good to hear. I'm not a fan of selling my mechs at all. I had a Cataphract in my garage that I didn't know what to do with, but after a refit and weapon change so it wasn't a frankenmech, I had an 897 damage/6 assist game earlier today - 'twas good! Punching on with Atlai and a couple of Shadow Hawks helped. =D

i sold a lot of mechs, to be honest. all my catapults were sold, same with my stalker, all centurions besides the YLW, all Jenners besides F and Sarah's Jenner. but that's personal preferences

if you want some opinions on loadouts for the awesomes (the 8R and 9M in special), just tell me, or let's meet at our TS-server (will be late in the night in australie until i get home from work =/ ).

I love it whenever someone posts a video of them having fun in an underdog mech with a less than optimized build. It's not about min/maxing it's about having fun. If that means min/maxing then more power to you. If it means playing your favorite mech, then play it and play it the way you want.
