I think this is the best build that I've found so far. Rather than trying to split between missiles and lasers I just filled it with MPL's, cranked the engine size up to give it 113kph and then stuffed the remaining open tonnage/crits with DHS to keep those MPL's cool. It's not a great brawler due to the XL and short range on the MPL's, but it does a really good job rushing in with the second wave to pick off damaged mechs and take advantage of opportunities to destroy components and strip mechs.

I prefer the Zombie version of your build!

Or keep speed and:

...still a zombie!

Ranged Zombie

Standard Zombie

Sniper Zombie

I'm lazy to tweak torso armor, do that to your liking. The variant is designed pretty much to zombie and shield with the whole of your left side. The one missile hardpoint is pointless

This is what I am going to try:

[smurfy]http://mwo.smurfy-ne...85b6733798e5461[/smurfy]

This is the worst mech in the sabor package so I will definantly seel this mech when I am done mastering.

It's a pretty terrible 'mech. That arm mounted firepower just adds to it's {Scrap} factor, but at least people might not prime it on sight simply because they never encounter the thing (unlike the YLW).

Knock-off Jester

About the best possible model you can work up, and it ain't great.

hmm i dropped the ams just because its such a energy based mech and dropped a bit too much armor to maximize heatsinks
go bout 115 (or 116 kph with less armor) kph with 4 heatsinks more ,but if that 36 armor arm gets shot your done
heheh yeah every time i see a yenlow wang i have to remember the whole arm thing most of the time
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f80a12d2c967727

or the 111.8 kph, 20 doubles 4 mid pulse , 1 medium , 336 armor version
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f17ac244f532b80

5 mid pulse xl 345 - 20 double heatsinks

Like this? (Sorry, always wanted a Mech that breathes fire without suffering in firepower for it!)

Bigger motor too! ;)

*** Any word yet on when these will be available for Cbills?

Yeah, something along those lines. Don't care much for flamer or srm+artemis though  speed increase also is too insignificant for me, but yeah.

As for "launching" them, I'd expect sometime in the first half of February... Battlemaster still has to come and none of us know whether Griffin and Wolverine will come at the same date. I'd guess first the Griffin, so...

WVR's are my favorite mech. That being said I knew I had to find a 6K build that I would enjoy. (The stock build is a beast in TT when played against level 1 tech) Currently I'm running 375 XL, SRM6 in left torso, LL/ML/2x SL in right arm, ML in head. Max the rest out on armor and heat sinks. (Use endo and FF). Its a great backstabbing build. If you catch just about anything but an assault mech from the rear you'll kill it or have the mobility to get the kill.

As a person who values balanced hardpoints across the mech. Wolverine are painfull to look at. They are fast at least...

I'd like to thanks everyone for their help and I have tried many of the builds suggested in this thread, some with more success than others.

I ended up playing with a support style using this build:

3 ml
1 srm6
2 ppc
13 dbl heatsinks
XL Engine 325

While it doesn't have k/d as high as my other saber mechs I feel the w/l shows that it is providing good support and adding value to the teams I pug with.

I currently run this:

It's my least favourite Wolverine, but it still gets the job done.

I've actually had some decent success in this mech. It isn't as good as the 6R, but I put a couple of ER LL in, the rest MLs, a SRM4, a XL325, and a ton of heat sinks. Does ok at early, long distance poking, but mid way through the battle, it does well at mid range fights. It shears off parts rather well. I've also noticed people give incoming laser fire low priority, unless it is the only thing hitting them.

I didn't want to spend MC on piloting, so I took a deep breath and prepared for a slog.

Five medium pulse lasers, 345 XL, max armor and as many heat sinks that fit.

It's horrifyingly effective if you play it like a light. 'Mechs turn into Swiss cheese. My first match, I managed 4 kills with about 740 damage.

epic burst and speed but lose your arm and your effectiveness drops hard. id carry an srm6 as backup incase your hand gets chopped off, hard to like this mech but it does pretty good finishing and taking limbs off. most didnt expect my 1man zerg rush

A lot of mechs have one variant which sucks. The 6k is the one for the wolverines.

WVR-6K
this is how i ran it

i played him as a LRM boat escort
so i hung around with our support mechs and used my 5xMedium lasers to shoo away any nasties
i had huge success with this build

i had lots and lots of issues finding anything that worked with the WVR's
