To be fair, most of this thread occurred pre-quirks, back when the 6K was somewhat useless.

Slapped a XL350 onto my 6K, going around 105 without speed boost!

PPC, 3 ML and 1 MPL seems to work the best for me anyways. Essentially a 55ton "light" that is used more for fire support then any real frontline work like the 6R.

Wolfy 6R

AC5 x 2 (6 tons ammo)
SRM2 x 3 (2 tons ammo)
XL265 (85.6 w/ speed boost)
Endo
1 DHS

Short and sweet, intended to flank the enemy and unleash a steady stream of bullets and missles. Enough Ammo for both weapons that with decent fire control you will never run out of ammo for either. Can become hot if you don't stop pumping out rounds but it shouldn't be an issue. DPS is crazy and you can easily knock out the backside of any enemy within a few seconds. However don't think you can stand toe to toe with anything heavier then another medium and hope to survive without taking a beating. SRM2s are superior to every other SRMs for the purpose of this build due solely to how fast they can fire (every 2 seconds). Works better in tandem with your AC5s..

Wolfy 6K

PPCS x 2
ML x 3
XL275 (89.1 w/ speed boost)
Endo
6 DHS

(Change from earlier build)

Threw in two PPCs and weighted down from XL350 to XL275 (default engine for 7K). 3 MPL's for additional close range fire. Another fire support mech, more intended to snipe and harass the enemy before closing in for the kill. PPCs can be fired at once for that extra bit of thump... the 6 DHS generally vent all heat before you fire again! Minimum range of 90m is easy to circumvent by keeping proper spacing.

Wolfy 7K

Artemis SRM6s x 3 (6 tons ammo)
XL 275 (default engine, 89.1 w/ speed boost)
Endo (default)
Additional DHS's (put on more even after achieveing 2.0 heat score)
5 JJs (!!)

The mini-splat. The wolfsplat, whatever. The JJs are intended for pop-splating. All alpha strikes with your 3 SRM6s, no excuse. Even at max heat score you will overheat if you alpha enough. But it will vent fast enough so you are not sitting around. Both arms are used for soaking up damage so you can spin like a ballerina waiting to smack someone with your alpha strike. A pure fire support mech you will be easily disposed of in a 1 on 2 situation since you cannot puke out damage fast enough. However, in a 1v1 situation you will generally come out ontop with good body rotation and aim. You do enough damage per alpha to easily wreck anything short of a direwolf if given ample time.

Hi J,

I have run it as a needle'er. You don't alpha well, but can maintain ALOT of harrassing fire, sustained.

I run a XL 350.

(2) Large Pulse Laser in the right arm.
(1) Medium Pulse Laser in the head.

It has good speed, unlocked at 113kph, and with the 5 extra DHS, making it at 15, it has good heat management.

another one I like, albeit range limited:

5 MPL and SRM6. It's a build that is also solid support mech. Find another Medium Pulse Laser boat on your squad and shadow him. Your 5 plus his 7-8 can make for a wicked duo..

But without JJ, your mobility is impaired, so just know that your strength is speed, not terrain navigation.

Splatverine ;) I like an XL300 and 3 med lasers to go with my SRM's. Left arm it great for tanking damage and always jump and spin between alphas. Direwolves are easy targets if you have a little cover around you. Timbers and SplatCrows are the only things that concern me.

I just can't get this mech to work no matter what I try.

Loadouts I've tried:

LRM 10
2 ER LL
3 ML
XL280

SRM6
2 LL
3 ML
XL300

SRM2
2 PPC
3 ML
XL340

SRM2
1 ML
4 MPL
XL375

It feels like I can put in a big engine and have less firepower and speed then a Jenner, while still being big like TBolt. The other option is to lower my engine size and up my firepower. The problem with that is I have slower torso twist and no JJ which usually results in me losing my arm if I try to engage. Strangely enough most people shoot off my left (and empty) arm first but I will lose my weapons pretty quick still.

Out of the Saber package this is the only one I am really having trouble with.

Is anyone having success with the 6K? If you are; what is your loadout and how are you playing it?

Please note I only PUG.

Sure you dont mean the 6R ???

Wolverine 6K is pretty stronk. Some rate it as the best IS medium. Quirks are INSANE.

Gotta get your poke-fu up to game. Dont brawl in it.

Granted, Wubverine, RIP but seriously. How can you not make this work. Hug cover, peek , burn some *ss, hide.
Dat RANGE! Dat DURATION! Dat HEAT!

6R with dakka is crap because of the facetime commitment.

Fantastic Tuesday can show you the Almighty Wubverine but the take home lesson is poke and use that range.

Similar to what I think and precisely what I did (only started playing it after the LPL nerf; before that it must have been great). The other two are godly though right now and more than make up for it.

This is an old, old thread that predated the Quirkening. The 6K is arguably one of the best Wolverines nowadays.

WVR-6K(C)

That is a completely vicious mech, right thar. Good heat efficiency, great speed, AMS...

That right fist packs a 27-point alpha. Yeah, you have to protect that arm, but when it connects, it HURTS. And wubarines are still pretty effective.
