Glad you're enjoying it.

I personally love manifold when I'm running lights. So many nooks and crannies to hide and slip through. Here's something to try out next time. The ramps that lead to the top of the "Pyramid" you can actually squeeze under them in a light mech, and a lot of the time people won't even notice that you're there. Can be real fun when trying to juke someone. Or when dodging LRMs.

i've been using them as escape routes and little sniper posts.

Now... For my builds ;)

This happens to be the thread for me because the locust was my FIRST mech :D, and I love it.

search bar or address bar.

Your builds are interesting. Too fragile for my taste, but hey, if they work for you, that's fantastic. I also see that you don't like to leave a weapon hardopint unused.

1 shy of 12 assists....Locust 1E 6 SPL. Really loving these things. Need to get another bay so i can get the 3S and collect'em all. Need to get speed tweak on them all now as well. I really want to mess with the 1V once I have it with a 170XL.

Wow, those are some dangerous numbers there. Seriously. Glad to see you're having fun with them.

Just remember that the 1V is not going to net lots of damage, just lots of component destruction, and high kill potential.

yea, the 1V is my least favorite so far because the MGs to me, are just useless. I spend my time just leg humping and drawing fire most of the time (which is amazing how quickly like a lance of heavies will stop dealing with my heavies and try to get me). I know the MGs are not for dealing damage but you sit idle most of the time if you just wait to find hurt mechs. I feel like I can't contribute with it.

least with it, I've learned a bit more to always try and target only specific areas which in the case, it legs. if I can take out a leg, then my work is done.

I can definitely understand the sentiment. I'm a huge fan of MGs (Koniving has his Flamers, I have MGs), and yes, if you sit down and hide waiting until a mech is wounded, that can get boring. However, once you get comfortable with that, you can start playing riskier and riskier maneuvers and games. Now I wade into a brawl for a solid 30 seconds in my Locust. Get some of the big mechs to hate me and try and kill me, dive out, dive back in later and take out limbs and body parts.

The advantage in being in a locust, is that you are the lightest mech in the game, and so, whichever mech you occupy and distract, you have done your job. Every mech out-tons you, so distracting/crippling them means you traded in your favor against them.

Getting better and better in my Locusts. With my single ERLL M & S 300-400 damage games are starting to become regular, as do the assists and kills. I've even been last survivor and highest damage dealer in some games and am starting to get comments on it in the after battle screen.

I use them as energy support builds. Only sniping at long range to distract, usually operating at medium range and dealing good damage to engaged enemies and sometimes just running in and land that shot on an exposed location.

My 1V is completely different with its ML and 4 MG's. As previously said it's a waiting game in the beginning of the match, which is hard on me as I start to feel like I'm not contributing to the team rather quick.

So I usually spend my time cycling targets looking for those exposed locations (especially on ammo builds of course, I'm not really interested in that ERPPC x2 K2 with an open side torso) and scouting for enemy mechs and keeping locks on them for Lrm's (rather dangerous in a non-ECM mech IMO).

But as soon as there's a good target it's like "Locust missile away!" and I'm homing in to destroy that component, relying on my speed to get me in and out again alive.

And like IraqiWalker said you can be a great distraction versus a huddle of enemy Heavies/Assault. They can get extremely spooked when they start to hear the chatter of those 4 MG's and all the bullets pinging of them.

Last week I soloed a Victor. Turned out he was rather contemptuous about using a proper amount of back armour for that ammo carrying side torso. ML eats it way through, MG's finish the job, booom, just took out 4 times my own weight. Time for that 2 bed, 2 bath home on Outreach.

:)

i spend good amounts of time distracting and will even do so long enough to get killed just to give my guys that extra 20 seconds of free open fire on targets.

I think i said this above but it is amazed how many targets will stop fighting someone else to try and kill you which means they stopped fighting an actual threat to deal with little me.

I guess buying time is the best term to use just sucks if you team doesn't put it to good use. usually for once the big brawl starts, its open season to just run around like and idiot and start shooting at everything I can either that or find the mechs they are chasing someone and stab them in the back or the lone missile/sniper who just doesn't pay attention to radar. funny when you walk up behind someone and alpha (not 1v) center torso and they just start backing up. can usually get 2 or 3 sometime before they decide to turn around and if they arne't dead, they will be soon.

what do folks do on the 3S?

this is what I was thinking
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7920f3e0f6c8090
or
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...04b757ae30bef1e

sacrificed some armor on the second one in order to use DHS

I like the 4x SRM2 vs dual 4s because the cool down is a second faster and I group them differently.

I need a back up weapon so I tried to make sure I had the tonnage to get the SL in there.

i go 1MPL and 3xSRM2 w/ 2 tons of ammo- dropping the last srm 2 makes the heat much more managable (slightly better than 1ML and 4xSRM2s) and gives you 33 shots vs 25 with 2 tons of ammo. i also chainfire a lot to help with the heat.

on the 1M i went with 2MPL/2xSRM2 w/1 ton of ammo and was a little hot even with missiles on chainfire. i go with the MPLs because i have a better chance of getting all the dmg in one spot rather than spraying it all over at high speeds. now i've gotten bored waiting for the close in game to take place and since it's similar to the 3S i tossed the SRM2s for a LRM 5 just because. heat works out better too. tried to get a second LRM5 there but found i ran out of empty slots for a second ton of ammo and 18 shots of 2xLRM5s isn't worth it for me.i may go back to the SRM2s again though, who knows.

the 4SRM2 build is the more common one. Another one is 2xSSRM2s with BAP. I've even seen 1xSRM2+1xLRM5+ML, and it was doing just fine as well.

I personally want max armor so I might end up with 3xSRM2s

the 1M i was doing simialr but gave up 1 MPL for more ammo. 1 ton just isn't enough for me.

i tried the LRM5 on the 1M but was just silly as you found out. With ECM and AMS your 10 feeble missiles stand no chance.

I have been using this Sarna "stock" LCT-5M2 on my LCT-3M "Stock" referring to weapons and speed. Posted Image

nothing seem to be working for me today on the 3S

4 SRM2
2 SSRM
3 SSRM

not having a good day. I have completely written off SSRMs because if ECM shows up, you are dead in the water. Had that happen 3 times today with teams who were just in a complete ECM blanket all the time. swore every one had it.

I even raged powered down in middle of a brawl because of it.

Use 2SSRM2s and use the weight of the third (1.5 tons) to mount a BAP. That's what I did when I used it with streaks.

trying that now. I think I prefer the 1M over the 3S because of that extra energy slot. having that extra beam seems to make a lot of difference since the SRM are better suited for internals/criticals.

tempted to try ERLL and 1 SRM2
