K/D isn't really the greatest measure of a pilot, especially a light, and triply a locust.
This really isn't a mech for those that give a flying crap about KDR.
However it is a fun mech, and excels in certain roles / modes.
Especially Conquest.
Now, I'm not an especially good pilot (better at theory and tactics than I am playing yet, need my skill/experience to catch up with my brain), nor have I been playing especially long, and locusts statwise are worse than average regardless.
But I'm pretty happy with the W/L Ratio on my locusts overall.
And I rarely come away with less than 5 assists in a Locust, if not more. (Pretty sure I got my 12-assists-in-one-game achievement in a locust too, just can't remember which one)
The trick with the ones that need to move in close-ish (such as the 1V and its MGs), is to make 'strafing runs'.
You don't circle, you don't even really engage.
You run past them, put fire into them as you go past and then dissapear again, making large loops, but never staying still or near enough to take return fire, apart from the pass where you're hitting them.
And don't really come in at them straight, always at an angle.
In Conquest, you use your speed and size to move from cap to cap, hiding completely under the cap point for protection.
Occasionally make a pass at the enemy, but generally only as a distraction - your task is to take points.
That or you could do something
nuts and mount an ERPPC, Large Laser / Large Pulse or AC2/5 on there for giggles.
