I can't zombie with the widened CT anymore so the SRM-heavybuild which was already weakened and relied on the inherent durability of the mech is dead. I am very distraught as this WAS my favorite mech. Does anyone have some builds they have good success with I can use for some inspirato? I might just... lrmisher with it... I guess? It doesn't have have enough lasers for tag and MLs for backup and no jumpjets kinda makes it poor at that. I need ideas guys.

Edit: Added the mech for guilt purposes

At the risk of being mocked by a particular user who's name I will avoid sharing.....

I run mine in a modified stock loadout
AC/5
2 Med lasers
2-3 LRM (2 w/Artemis 3 without - benefits to both)
250 standard engine (full DHS mean you can fire everything for a very long time without worry)

I have seen variations of it that mount AMS or CASE.
I do not use case as I have yet to have any ammo explode.
I do not remember if I use AMS or not /blush_of_shame

I would link to smurfy, but I have never actually used that to pre-build a mech - and always forget to set up my builds whilst the game is running.

It is still a very good mech, and while at the highest tiers may be outclassed by the Shadowhawk, it can still very much hold it's own at the lower tiers.

I tend to run it as an escort for the bigger mechs - the LRM I left in because I tend to be standing on the cap-points with the fight happening just over a hill - some indirect fire is better than no fire at all IMO.

Well if I am not using a tag I'll use artemis yeah. I suppose that sounds good. I tried something similar with streaks but the former brawler king just doesn't have enough laser hardpoints for that anymore. I was a very good zombie, and still use the AL and the Yen Lo as well but this one I had so much fun with. I would skin it as a skeleton and sing spooky scary skeletons, or a zombie and claim I was the ghost of meta-past. I'll poke at it I can't just let my Spooky Scary Centurion fade the way of the Dragon.

Well I can tell you I regularly duel and beat Shadowhawks and other Meta mechs, but I beat them for the same reasons I regularly used to beat the Zombie builds - the people I fight tend to treat them like an auto-IWIN button. :P

Well yes, I am getting stopped because I have to change my strategy or position. I have been playing a lot of blackjack and Hunchback recently (getting the Hunches elited) and do very well with those despite them not being very meta-centric. I decided to grab my mastered CN9-A for nostalgia purposes. I was barely ever getting hit in the side torso despite torso twisting to the point I am debating a smaller XL and bringing a lot of candy. Its not like the Centurion could do any damage after the SRM nerf anyway. It was just difficult to kill.

Not even that hard if you payed attention to the hitboxes - there was a band just over the legs that was all CT (still is I believe)

Arms COULD cover it, but.... lol :P
Big reasons I much more fear pilots who know their particular machine rather than who "know" the current meta.

Yeaaah because I was a centurion Pilot I always dropped them, by shooting them in the head fin. :P

The head fin. :P

Almost mentioned that, but most of the "high" Elo players I talk to (such as Mr as-of-yet-unspoken) consider that to hard a target to hit. -_-

You can also try mounting an UAC if you feel you are fast enough to get into cover when it jams (I mount one on my -D, which is still using it's 300xl)

Anyway that's off topic. STILL NEED MORE BUILDS. I will enjoy any and all builds for some inspirato. and they are greatly appreciated.

I like what you posted Bucks. I might use something similar, swap the AC10 for an LB for more ammo and better brawl power at the cost of range or something, I dunno I 'll fiddle with it n shizz

Here's my CN9-A which hasn't even changed since the hitbox changes. It still does pretty good though I admit not taking it out too much. I'd prefer to get an extra ton of ammo for the SRMs in there but I'm not willing to sacrifice anything else.

Centurion
  • There were 2 sections on the side of the Centurion's head that were applying damage to the Left and Right Arm. These have been corrected and now apply damage to Center Torso.
  • The Front Center Torso of the Centurion was very narrow. The upper section of the Front Center Torso (hips and above), has been widened by approximately 10%.
  • Pelvis has been adjusted so that a much smaller section of it applies damage to Center Torso with the rest of it going to Left and Right Leg.

Didn't make a huge deal of difference IMO, but I could see how it would be the last straw for some people. The meta and the SRM hit reg issues have not been kind to the Centurion.

Honestly I tried playing with a lot of different builds and ended up stepping down to a 250 taking off artemis for regular srm6s and switching to pulse lasers. I just had to adjust my Torso twisting for the change to make sure I wasn't getting shot I think. It's not as bad as I had thought. I might try an AC5 and 3 SRM4s instead for a better DPS&less luck-based (srmhitdetection whoo) Deal.

Edit: Thanks for all the ideas though guys they were appreciated. My zombie will never not be a zombie I guess, doesn't matter how hard they make it to zombie. :V

So long as you know what you are doing with the mech itself you will do fine ;)

I did, I guess it just took me a while to adjust to what angle I have to be at to block damage, old habits die hard. Also I have been chainfiring my 3srm launchers now when prudent (not getting shot at). The hit detection issues seem less severe that way, back up to 3ish kills and 500 damage when I do things right.

ac/10, lrm, 2med lasers, and just doubled the heat sinks. its a good mech just hovering out at 400m from targets raining lrms and ac10 shells. too many players got comfortable facehugging those srms and forgot what the mech was originally designed to do.
