Just because "Alex" is currently working on art for a particular Mech does not mean that is the next Mech. It's rather late in the game to be "just working on the art design", and have that ready, modeled, structured for in game use. (and ready for a March introduction.)
So an update on what Mech's can be dropped into MWO within the 3050 timeline.
Assault 'Mechs 3050 Timeline
- Charger (in your face attacker)
- Goliath (Quad legged Mech)
- Hatamoto-Chi (All around light Assault)
- Zeus (all around fighter)
- Katana (medium to short range)
- Shogun (intended to be used in urban combat)
- Cyclops (normally a Command Mech)
- Mauler (initially a long range Mech)
- Banshee
- Annihilator (4 x LBX 10's)
- Imp (Swiss Army Knife" of a 'Mech)
- Thug (designed as a direct competitor to the Warhammer)
- King Crab (standard dual AC20's to start)

Sadly questionable, as it lacks enough 3050-era variants unless you -really- go out there into noncanonville.
It'd have to be the Daboku prototype, the not-quite-canonical Linesman that proceeded it, and the -1R.
Edit: I'd like to see the first 95-tonner, since it's currently the only tonnage that lacks a representative in the assault category- and the Banshee has some very nice variations to work with.

Now we get to see either the Lineman added as well, or the forums QQ to explode because they are either going to add their own variant, or one that isn't timeline appropriate.

Of course they could. The pipeline is more efficient now, if you will remember back, it wasn't that long between the leak of FD working on the Protector, and it getting released, and not that long between the announcement of the Saber mechs, and their release. As far as it sounded from interview, the Saber decision was well after the announcement of the Phoenix mechs.

I'd much rather have mecha Zoidberg (King Crab) over Mecha Godzilla wanabe (Annihilator) but if having the much needed ballistic balance means we get the Annihilator then so be it. I just hope by then we have a working Voip system so I can record and play Godzilla roar over every ones speakers every time I drop in the Annihilator.

Although I still don't know if they will put a dual AC20 assault in the game.

doesn't say when for either though. and as we have seen they can have anywhere from 3-5 concept art done at the same time
