so i decide that even though i HATE missiles i want to find a use for my [scrappy] Victor 9K - i leveled it up when gauss was still usable but when gauss went in the tank the 9K dropped right out of the rotation. so why not, i'l make an LRM boat with it and have some "fun" for a few games. bought a 500k LRM20 and a 6mil advanced target decay to get this [scritch] up and going again

the 9K has 10/5 tubes so figure 2 salvos of 15 missiles is going to penetrate better than 10+5/5+5/5 with 2 lighter LRM15s

HOWEVER, i try every which way to make it so that the LRM20 is in the 10 tube and the LRM10 is in the 5 tube, and it just won't do it. so instead of a tight double blob of missiles, i get 4 salvos - 10+5/5/5/5

really?

Its the same way with the highlander. Known issue for a long time that they have yet to fix.

Yep, sold my hgn 733 because every time i wanted to run a lrm 20, it would drop it to the lower launcher and put a smaller lrm rack or a streak in the top 20 tube rack. The only way I believe I got it to stay was to only use one missle hardpoint. At that point it was just a gimped 733c so I sold it.

there is a workaround for this.
launchers have a hidden "hardpoint-index" after they were first equipped in a mech.
that means when a frehs LRM10-launer is equipped into the first missile slot, it gets index #1. This index will not change, as far as i know.

To put the LRM20 in the first slot and the LRM10 in the second, sell all launchers you have on stock. then buy a new LRM20 and equip it to the mech. Save your mech after this. You may want to go to the testing grounds and check that the launcher is in the right spot. With the victor, you should get 2 salvos of 10 missiles each. After this, go into the mechlab again, buy a fresh LRM10 launcher and equip it. Since the index #1 is already taken by the LRM20, the new launcher should get index #2 and should be put in the second slot.

When you now fire both your launchers at the same time, you should get 2 salvos of 10+5.

This worked for me on other mechs.

This is NOT confirmed, so i can not guarantee that this will work.

Edit: also, the last time is tested this was in the old UI, not sure if anything changed with UI2.0

Sorry but the Gauss is not horrible. Does it require a little bit more effort? Yes it does. I am leveling Victors now and I am running the 9K with a Gauss. It's fine.

that's funny, i deleted this topic immediately after creating it since it had all this [color] junk and made another topic:

why did this pop up 3 weeks later?

Sorry to say that is a feature, not a bug.

And hopefully your Victor will get a working Gauss Rifle again soon. Somehow Duke Nukem's Sniper Rifle became a Battletech Gauss Rifle, but they are two different weapons and games. Weird that so many confuse the two, but a Sniper Rifle comes with it's own scope and excells in headshots. So in MWO parlence that's like 30 damage, and obviously that couldn't work in balance with the other weapons.

Anyway, you skilled Gauss players come get me, I need the salvage. :)

. ;)
