Pinpoint does nothing at the moment. It used to matter when weapons converged over time. That system had timing issues (depended a lot on your ping), so it was removed.

They will be overhauling the skill tree eventually, but there were/are much more important issues to come first (such as not wanting to construct new UI elements for the old UI)

always buy Speed Tweak first

I usually go fast fire, speed tweak, then the other two.

Pinpoint is a 3000xp sink at the moment.

pinpoint is just a step to get the 2x of the basic skills. normally i buy it last. speed tweak is the big one for me.

Speed Tweak should be first IMO, but that's just me...

Just so you are aware, fast fire does NOT function and has not functioned since the public announcement of the AC/2 ghost heat. It cited that fast-fire was the cause of triggering ghost heat for the AC/2 under normal conditions. Thus fast fire was disabled.

I had a discussion of someone who managed to prove to me it was working again and they fixed it about a month later. Since it now works in the training grounds, it's harder to test.

Nothing works in testing grounds. Nothing works in testing grounds. It's 100% server controlled only. Not local otherwise it's hackable. Nothing used to work in testing grounds.

Wait, are pilot skills not supposed to be enabled in testing grounds now? Or is that something coming next patch?

Kon, as of the last patch pilot and mech skills DO now work in the testing grounds.

As of the last patch, all skills work in the testing grounds.

Well then.
Let the hacks commence!

But beyond that, simply try to fire a PPC exactly 3.8 seconds after you fired it before, with a macro preventing you from 'doing it again' before 4 seconds so you know it's exactly what fast fire describes.

Because I sure as heck can't. AC/2s would trigger ghost heat by simply holding the trigger.

I'll be damned. It is working now.
...Now to trigger some ghost heat for just firing 1 AC/2 normally! GREAT! PGI you freaking morons...

Overheat in 10 seconds with massive heat spikes from one AC/2. PGI you are freaking brilliant in the most sarcastic of ways. :D I can't believe they were that damn stupid. ONE AC/2 triggers ghost heat.

In a pair it's worse. Can't even make 6 seconds of fire.

Actually I see what they did. I wound up getting this when my connection got wonky.

O.o; So they haven't put the fast fire type stuff client-side, testing grounds is just got some sort of server-side hookup. So I guess no worries about hacks tweaking their way in, but meh. Still don't like ghost heat affecting a single weapon through normal use because I got myself an 'elite' upgrade.

You have to be 1337 to use it. Working as designed.

I made the twin AC/5 twin AC/2 rig work. It was a bit tricky getting in the timing but despite shooting slower than I "could" I'm still shooting faster than before this patch...
Which means I'm insanely deadly and barely generating any heat. ACs either shoot too fast or are doing too much upfront damage, that was 7 kills on the first try.
