hears they are workin on a new 45 tonner. So far all the mechs have come from the Record Sheets: 3050 upgrade book I have. (including the clanners) So throwing out melee weapons, MASC and insufficient variants im left with the Vindicator and the Wyvern. Both of them sadly, are slow as dirt like the blackjack. My bets on the Vindicator, its more popular I think.

Paul Inouye said last night that it was going to be the Hatcherman.

He was joking, duh.

It would be awesome though if the Hatchetman was suddenly implemented together with a whole system of physical attacks (hand actuators that mean something!) and maybe even some kind of knock-down again (though without stun-locking).

But yeah, it'll probably be the Vindicator....

yeah.. wonderously another Medium...though, looks not bad, a bit slow maybe, but promising variants.

VND-1R: 3 Energy(RA, LA, H), 1 Missile(LT)
VND-1X: 2 Energy(RA, H), 1 Ballistic(LA), 1 Missile(LT)
VND-3L: 3 Energy(RA, LA, H), 1 Missile (LT), DHS, Case

VND-1R St. Ives Blue - as Hero?

All have 4 Jumpjets, but an 180er Engine Rating.. (same as the Blackjack`s 180er...it will be another "slow" 45 ton Mech).

Urbanmech with a gauss duct-taped to the top.

PGI pls.

The Vindicator doesn't seem to add much we don't already have, but it could be fun if it has a high engine cap.
VND-1X could be useful with AC2/PPC.

I'm kinda hoping we don't get a Wyvern, sick of seeing so many medium SSRM boats.
Either way, we now have an excuse to bug Paul about the Hatchetman.

So.. Basically another useless mech then. Only one of the variants has ballistic capability, only one ballistic point at that. This game totally revolves around ballistic platforms now so most any mech with energy/missles only will pretty much useless other than being cannon fodder.

Probably, yes.

My hope is to get a better Engine cap than with the BJ, otherwise, well.. its a BJ with missile slots, and no Ballistics (other than a single MG in the VND-1X), and we dont know variants yet.

It might LOOK better than a fugly Blackjack though.

The -1X can manage AC/5 + PPC, so you're not skunked there. The -1AA is fastest in class if implemented. And the -1SIC can pull laser/Streak or LRM skirmisher duty. They also all fall under the "have to kill to stop firing", thanks to the head energy hardpoint.

I'll welcome it simply because it means the Capellan Trifecta of 'Mechs will be in- Raven, Vindicator, Cataphract.

As a point of clarification/correction: the VND-1X actually carries two Machine Guns in it's Left Arm (along with a half-ton of MG ammo and a full set of actuators). ;)

Not excited about seeing another slow 45-tonner. At least the Blackjack has high-mounted arm hardpoints and the benefit of 3 extra crit slots from not having lower arm or hand actuators, and it's barely viable as is.

I suppose it can carry missiles. Maybe missiles will be better then?

Hellspawn was a very fun mech. Ugly as sin, but very fast and could hit like a truck.

I'd love me some Crabs. The Crab is a very good solid mech even if it is all energy. 2x PPCs with X number of ML with either ECM/JJ would make for a deadly machine. However, if it is confirmed that its going to be a 45ton mech then the odds are of it being the Crab is very slim.

You better not be playing with me, because if they put in the Hatchetman then that means they will also put in the Axeman and I loves me a Axeman to the point I will be very tempted to pay out the a$$ for one.

Black Jacks may be slow stock, but when upgraded with bigger engines and stuff the Black Jack would make you wish that it was giving you a BJ. I have seen a lot of Black Jacks being used and used to very good effect. I love my Black Jacks 1 and 3.

If the the next 45 ton mech is XL friendly then we might see something very interesting be it a Hatchetman, Vindicator, or even a Wyvern.

Cataphract may be the initian brain child of the Capellans, however, no Phract at that time was fielded at the beginning of their production until the Federation captured most of the stock piles and manufacturing senters for the mech. So even though the Phract may be first built by the Caps it was in fact first fielded by the Feds. Also, the Phract 4X and 3D were Fed variants.

The problem is that most of the timeline appropriate medium mechs right now are basically pocket heavies.

I thought of that, but I needed some more filler text to make the urbanmech bit stand out a little less :P

I do think it seems a little bland though. I'm much more interested in the candidates for the next heavies and lights.
