On a positive note for the night, the Phoenix Hawks seem like pretty solid mechs to me. Nice and fast with decent hit boxes. The arm structure buff seems to help quite a bit too. I just need to learn how to be a good erppc sniper with the phx-2 or find a non-erppc build for it.

getting so tired of the BS hit reg in this game

Arctic cheetaa...hit it with 2 CERPPCs to the CT as it was running straight at me...

then put 4 ersl into its ct as it was still running straight at me

then put another 4 ersl into its CT (by this point, it has yellow armor after 60 damage)

we continue fighting... it takes my left arm with 1 alpha as I put 4 more ersl into its CT...then 2 CERPPCs

It takes my ST (I'm in a hinchback IIC) after I put another 4 ersl into its ct

then I put 2 ERSL and a CERPPC into its CT....(that finally stripped its CT armor) before I died

I started an alt account for the what mech challenge and my T5 status lasted one match !

There are many many reasons why I am still tier 5. BTW my WMC account ih8tevictors is also tier 5 despite mastering RVNs and VTRs. Working on EXEs right now. The only account I have that is rising is my pure trial account, poopala. Surprisingly it is almost into tier 3 with only 25 games all in trial mechs...

as much as i hate to blame hardware, i do have to admit to playing on a toaster with integrated graphics. single digit frame rates with a max of 32 (i saw it once) really do have an impact on a berserker/brawler.
I have very large hands and fingers. let's just say me and the keyboard don't get along. so i play with a HOTAS/left handed mouse hybrid thing. it works for me but is not truly top tier. i can core out a whale in a Locust with it very quickly if my frame rate don't teleport to badly.

speaking of which my berserker/brawler play style does leave me in some bad placements once in awhile. also in the poke and hide that is tier 5 the berserker/brawler is quite the hit or miss.

i tend to troll non meta mechs. yes i run a duel LRM5 locust with TAG. a grasshopper with 2 ERLL and a 1/2 doz SPL. very effective in the bog BTW. I love a Super Stock Boars Head, with an XL400. i also run mixed builds. or MGs and LRM15s on a King Crab. strip the armor early then crit them late.

I almost only PUG. if i am in a group it is a pug group. a couple of times i have been a filler for an organized group but less then a handful.

i tend to be a team player in pug. I don't ride my kills. Once the mech is no longer a threat I move on. I tend to flank and disrupt the reds hoping my team exploits my move. In PUGs, OK i am stupid.

I play a lot of mechs. I grind a lot of mechs. many basic mechs will get you dead quick. Also like to play a couple of matches in a new mech bone stock. take a guess how long they last... a lot of that was before tiers, so when the tiers came I was in the sub basement of tier 5

Match Maker truly does hate me...

someone has to be the exemption that proves the rule "if you play long enough, everybody will be tier 1"

I'm still a noob...but learning. Best places on the map....when to GTFO and when to brawl.
I drive mostly lights (Mastered a couple already)....but for this past weekend's "Multi-Ton" event I was working Heavies (2XPPC Cat) and Medium mechs.
Was playing in one of my fun mechs...Centurion with L-BX-10 (shotgun love) and twin SRM's....so it's a mid-short range build.

Here's my whine...I listen to dead people and let it affect me too much.

Playing skirmish on Grim Plexus. Had one kill (just the lucky last shot) and like 3 assists...so I felt like I was doing ok. We get down to 3 vs 3. They had 3 heavies against our last 2 heavies and me (medium). I was waaaaaay out of position - far right of the middle ground. I was trying to work my way around to the back of the wounded Storm Crow...When a British voice starts yelling "It's been over a minute why haven't you fired...You've got to fire to win...no wonder you're not on a team". I look around and it's a 2v2 on far left front corner of center. I'm thinking "I must be missing something?" Then another guy chips in "Go left... Go left... get that Mauler". I'm thinking it was my (living) teammate and he must need help. Took off (well 87kph) back towards the front and opposite corner. Brit guy starts yelling "What are you doing?....you need to get back in there"
To make this short I got cored and legged by the wounded Storm Crow. The enemy won the 2V2. Then I had 3 people all yelling how I blew it..??????????????????????????
Turns out the guy yelling at me about the Mauler was an Atlas driver who did 79 damage before dying (WTF!!!).
Was so pissed off I got off and played Fallout 4 for the rest of the night.

I need to stop listening to people who couldn't stay alive.....

not true. many assault guys just die because the team just ignores them and leaves them behind. most atlas are also relatively short ranged. if they get trapped in the open they cant do **** and die uselessly.

you should not stare at the damage too much. if he survived long enough to give your team time to win it can be worth more than 200 additional damage.

hell i often die first because im an agressive player taking risks because my mechs and loadouts need to be played like that but that doesnt mean i played bad.
many times i still do more damage than all the blokes that cry *you died so shut up*
last time i had 245 damage in a cicada spotting for my assaults that done nothing but cap outside caustic valley....
and a stormcrow noob called me out for ranting. i died first, some minutes before the next one and still went 3rd on damage.
the stormcrow dude had a whole 64 damage.

there are plenty of values that need to be looked at before you judge. alot of players simply ignore any tactical or strategical value and got for the CoD playstyle and thats why they are bad or why i rant so much in games.

Hahah...no I assume he was talking about the other large mech...I don't know. I never made it back. Soon as I turned around I was 'pecked' to death...

Feel bad...probably did 'quicken' our loss...I should have kept on the Storm Crow and not tried to return...

Funny you mention that...like I said...I run lights. Who's main job is scouting and / or target marking. We also help watch weak flanks and see if an enemy push is real or distraction.

Got called a camper..in Polar Highlands..for staying on mountain tops and marking targets for our Lurm Boats. Dude was an obvious COD crossover (like me) but..uh...ECM, TAG, and Deagle Prong....what do you think I'm supposed to be doing?

I love the pug life....

way to go dude, way to go. i literally love my victor to death and im most likely the first to die each battle lol.
but you can trust me that if i can go in hard and brawl the **** out of the enemy its worth the death
brawling itself is a mastery... especially on all the long range focused maps and battles....
