I find the fact that you sold your Hunchbacks in the first place appalling.

I run my 4P similar to yours, but I drop one ML for one more DHS, just for a little more cooling. Build.

I also run my 4H similar to yours, but I only use 3 tons of UAC ammo (plenty of ammo for 1 UAC5) in exchange for a max engine, Std275. Build.

Again, I run my 4SP similar to yours, but I swap the Medium Laser in the head for a Small Laser, drop 1 ton of SRM ammo, add Ferro and upgrade the engine to a Std275. This also allows for max leg armor. Build.

yea like I said my builds were old i basically just threw together what i had written down on smurfy. I may also try 5 mediums and an ac/10 on the 4h may run a tad hot but will put out some nice damage

My 4G build converts to 4H. Its one of my favorite mechs. HBK-4H

The newer mechs out perform them on many levels.

Go for it man! I've mastered all 6 Hunchbacks and they perform just fine. My average KD might be a little higher in the Shadowhawk but they are both fun as hell so I don't know what else you need. People that only take "optimal" mechs are missing out and some good fun.

The 4G is a better choice than a 4H, if only because it can be more dakka orientated. Also the classic is the classic for a reason.

The P and SP already have lots of lasers, so embrace the Dakka.

I disagree. If you're going for long ranged dakka - might as well go SHD. Hunchie excels up close. (I love my AC 20 4H with 5 small lasers)

The main thing I'd tweak on your all of your builds is doing some armor shaving on the arms.

One bad thing about the Hunchback is the tiny arms - they don't shield the torso like the newer 55 tonners / Cent.

I don't think I have a hunchie with arm armor above 18 - and it's extremely rare for me to lose one before the associated side torso.

Also - if you check the hitboxes - it's surprising how much of your front torso on the hunch extends around back. Put your front right torso at 46, back armor at 2. (except for the 4sp of course)

I think the Hunch 4P "Swayback" is still one of the best Mediums in the game to date. 9MLasers in such as small package that can move 90+ kph is a serious threat in the right hands. Even with ghost heat, good weapons management still allows for great damage numbers that equate to some nice kills.

I believe the Blackjack has a variant that can do this as well (max 8MLasers), but I still prefer the energy boat in the Hunch personally. It is smaller and more nimble than the Blackjack. Only downside is the "hump" that you will need to be aware of.

IMO, No newer Medium can perform a swayback role quite as well as the Hunchback 4P.

Yep, this can't be said enough. No mech feels quite as good and has such a perfect balance of mobility and firepower.

Btw. hunchbacks rear hunch is very very small area so you don't need more than 1-3 points of armor there.

My favourite hunchbuild http://mwo.smurfy-ne...6cede4a08266b0d

So because Highlander out performs about every other mech in the game I should play only Highlander?

I've had more success with this 4H - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...dcef48439bd488c -

It's shorter ranged - but that seems to be where hunchies excel anyway. Once you can close - it has the same alpha - better heat - better speed for closing said distance - higher dps.

My 4G is Founders though so I get bonus CB :)

If you want to play MWO at an efficient and competitive level YES!. That is how all PVP games are. You play what is most effective according to the games mechanics.

The 3x4 wont make any difference in game mechanics. The Shadowhawk and other new Med's will out class the hunchie.

Now saying 3x4 will be more "fun" so therefore I can run any mech I want, is a different discussion.

But most people don't. I don't care what the competitive crowds finds "best". The Hunchback allows me to have fun and it's effective enough to have a solid positive KD for me. And I've killed Shadowhawks in my Hunchie too.

Ug, it's so boring to play that way.
