Thats pretty much my point - you can have the equivalent of the Urbanmech by doing what you said, and how many of those do you see on the battlefield?

The only issue here is that the Urbie, like Big Lebowski and tons of other relatively horrible cult films, have received an enormous influx of people that "like the unlikable just to like it" - call it nerd rebellion or whatever you want. There is no actual reason to like it, other than it is easy to make cute cartoons with it.

As I said, I wouldn't have a problem with them releasing the Urbie, but I wouldn't buy one because it is just a poorly-designed light and I don't particularly like lights to begin with (I have spider, Jenner and Ember mastered, but rarely play them because I just don't like the playstyle).

My point is it was an April Fools joke, and people called it weeks ahead of time. It wasn't even a well done joke, but it's amazing that anyone would get all up in arms about it. Get over it already, lol.

If they want to make money, they should definitely release it as a Gold version first, though. See who is REALLY a fanboi!

I think you are missing the crucial part of what actually makes the Urbie what it is. Ignore the cuteness for a moment and just focus on the design quirks:

1. A Light Mech that is so slow, it makes the Atlas look 'sporty'
2. It can pack guns that are more suited to Heavy and Assault Mechs
3. It's cheap as dirt

You can gloss over each of these quirks without being any wiser, but you cannot gloss over the sum of them. There simply is no other Mech like the Urban Mech. It is one of the few that punches way above its weight in its natural habitat.

We all know why the Urban mech has 5 extra heat capacity: to handle its intense inner sexiness.

TBH: To make this more newbie friendly, and to bypass the need support sub 100 engines, they can ditch its 11th heat sink for a 100 rated engine. Breaking canon slightly to at least allow the skin and players to have the fun and even richer 'flavor' of the game as they like seems like a no-brainer.

The butthurt over this being a bad April fool's joke is getting a little out of hand, but enabling a large number of your players to have a nerdgasm cannot be understated. It also is a good gesture to the playerbase that you are being responsive to how they want the game to look like. (and not breaking the game)

cause, you know, stock urbies are slow.

It got used a lot in MW4. Granted, it's not going to win many games on it's own, but for friendly, for fun games, it's more fun than you seem to realize.

First post ever and I'm not real sure why I decided this topic would be the one I post on...

I'm all for releasing things like this, not because they're any good; many people have already covered that.

I'm for it because once personal lobbies, private matches and the like come about, it will be fun to do games like "Everyone pilot urbanmechs" or "nothing but lrms". Essentially, player made game modes. =)

(Not that all lrms would be all that fun but its the principle that counts.)

I couldn't agree more. Some of the most fun that I've had playing this game has been in matches like these.
