Step by Step:
.) Login to M:WO.
.) Find the Social Tab (it is not labeled as such, save for a a couple of people shaped icons), click.
.) Find the Add/Invite button on the friends list that pops up, click.
.) Type in your son's handle to the letter (no search, you must know the pilot's call-sign), click.
.) Your son should also be logged in to MW:O.
.) His Social Tab button should now be blinking (hard to catch if you are not paying attention), click.
.) Friend and Group invites show up at the top of the list in purple, click on invite.
.) Accept/Reject options appear to the left of the friends list, click accept.
.) Now that you are friends, one of you will need to start a group; in Social Tab find Create Group, click.
.) When the group is active, a new chat-like window will appear on the left side of the screen.
.) Go back to the right side where the friends list is located and find your son's name, click.
.) Invite options appear to the left of the list, as before; find Invite to Group, click.
.) Your son, again, will have to watch his list for the purple invite; click on invite.
.) Accept/Reject options appear again to the left of the list, click accept.
.) Now that you should both be in the same group, you must both ready up before the leader can launch.
.) You cannot Ready if you were in the mechlab/skills tree prior to entering the Social Tab.
.) If you were in an unlaunchable area, close the Social Tab (using the 'X' above the friends list)
.) Find the Home tab at the top of the screen, click.
.) Go back to the Social Tab and try the ready button again in your group chat area.
.) Once all players are ready (as indicated by the word "ready" next to their names) the leader can click Launch.
Simple!

Until he beats your match score, of course.

Now I wish players in text chat would clean up their language. There are plenty of ways to express frustration without profanity.
