Is there a guide for what setting currently work for the user.cfg? I know there are a lot of old guides but I think a large number of settings was blocked by PGI so I don't know how helpful they will be, I might be wrong though.

Yeah I'd love an updated guide since they just added new things.

And now post an explanation what all these toggles are supposed to do and we'd have a thread I'd consider a pinning candidate.

Just make a plain text file with the name "user.cfg" in your "[MWO install dir]\MechWarrior Online" folder. Edit using any plain text editor, e.g. Notepad.

No way this is going to work... If you have some settings in your user.cfg that PGI put in the blacklist they said recently that your whole user.cfg goes invalid.

So if they are right, I would like to know if your list is working and what specific commands invalidate the user.cfg.

All user.cfg commands are found via google as they are common CryEngine settings.

My cfg atm:

MWO uses modified by PGI CryEngine 3, from my experience - and I've played with CE3 SDK and MWO's user.cfg a lot, half of variables you are using are either ignored or locked in this version, surely it's not a problem, just FYI.

… So why do we have to beat around the bush for these? With all the server-side anti-cheats, wouldn't everybody win with an official list stuff that works, instead of guessing why Omicron says
[Warning] Unknown command: cl_fov
[Warning] Unknown command: d3d10_TripleBuffering
[Warning] Unknown command: d3d11_TripleBuffering
	d3d9_TripleBuffering = 1 [REQUIRE_APP_RESTART]
for working stuff, or wondering why
s_FileOpenHandleMax = 64
in user.cfg returns a
s_FileOpenHandleMax = 30
in Omicron.log.

Much better example of a lock-down

yes, True but they never really said which ones are blocked/disabled > so I kept them all on. No Performance issues and I have noticed better FPS. "most" them them still work from what I am experiencing. I am constantly tinkering to see which ones do and don't work...

Here are all of Console Commands and Variables direct from cryengine. not all of them work and a lot of them are for development.

You need to be careful of file extensions- In many cases, users will unwittingly create a filed named User.cfg.txt (named "user.cfg" with a hidden extension .txt) which won't work and they'll blame you.

I described exactly what to do. When people ask "how do I mod my game", I expect them to first have general OS knowledge. But hey, you are welcome to sue me for not giving a ****.

Sorry Modo, I don't mean it's your fault other users can't use the tools at their disposal.

But if you don't expect anyone to know how to mod a game, you'll be closer to the truth.

did you mean sys_pakpriority = 0? also , do you need a space after the =, so it's = 0? or does formatting not matter?

Is there a simple one for just removing filmgrain and cockpit glass?

And radiokeys how many of those lines do you need for the mech rendering?
