The centurion performed very nicely.

The Locusts....weren't the worst choice actually. The awesomes were feared. It's almost a different game entirely.

I'll be attending again next week.

What's the point of this thread?

Is it pointless enough to get off-topic?

He's not wrong though. I'd love a stock only drop queue.

New player experience.
Stock mech only queue.

Add all stock mechs except heroes. Allow players to play stock only. Teaches great things about heat management and so on. Nothing is obscenely outclassed.

Once they get their own mech, well customized mechs get dropped into the "actual game."

Don't necessarily need a stock only queue as much as an option to drive stock mechs that you don't own in the Private Match system. Problem solved.

My god, Stock mech only queue would be a great change of pace.

Well, if you think about it: Why not have the game balanced around stock configs? Sure, this will mess up free customization. But think about it: The only thing that will happen is that some builds will get dominant while others are pointless. In other words: The same we have now. Meta humpers can still brake the game and play their cheesy configs - they won't see much difference and will still have their mech lab, while purists could enjoy a "balanced" stock queue.

I wonder how I'd do considering...
Stock mechs against non-stocks.
Spoiler

I'll be participating in the next stock mech monday and bring my camcorder with me. I'll see if I can bring Lordred too.

Would be nice if you got some sort of bonus for running a stock build, allowing for upgraded IS, armor, DHSs, and possibly engine.

Yes. Yesterday DHS weren't allowed, so things were pretty even. Everything ran hot, but it was a much funner game, in my opinion.

The rules might change a little over the coming weeks, but I welcome a SHS only stock game.

Actually, I'm curious, how do Double Heat Sink equipped stock mechs fare? (Blackjack-3s, Battlemaster-3M's and Wolverine-7K's)
Would they become a lot more powerful or feared?

Back when we had repair and rearm, the cn9a was my most cost efficient mech

One thing that isn't based on stock configs right now per sé is armor. (Link leads to a post with another link to a feature suggestion, as well as some debate with someone who disagrees; so it's fleshed out there too).

Nothing limits it, and that's where a huge amount of the imbalance comes from. That and no drawbacks to putting on endo steel, DHS, etc. Since thresholds change, having larger thresholds with SHS would give you a reason to use them (or cut DHS thresholds in half; right now between DHS, 'skills' and threshold increases we have QHS anyway. See here). Repair and rearm restored (but revamped significantly) would give you reasons to choose STD engines and STD structure or even Ferro armor instead.
