Question.

Does MM take a group's collective elo into account when matching teams? I.E. if a veteran 4 man drops into the queue, and a newbie 4 man at the same time, does MM wait for other groups, or will it throw the new group against the vets?

The reason I ask is, I've seen a LOT of matches where one teams alpha lance will average 80 damage while the other teams alpha will average 300-400+.

Thanks!

I.... do not remember?

Been trying to read up on Elo function the last while - and most of the real info on it has disappeared on me. :)

A premade is supposed to be an average collected from the group's members and then slapped together as "one" score.

So if we have 3 newer players and 1 experienced player, they'll count as a mostly new team and then the 1 player (usually myself) will look incredible against a cluster of newer players.
Of course that one player in the group drags the other three into a match with players of higher level than they would normally see, but lower than the high-scoring player would normally see.

So then you have an issue where one team may have a premade of 4 intermediate players and the other may have a premade of 3 newer players and 1 very experienced player which is allowed because their averages match up within a tolerance level. It doesn't mesh quite so well in practice however.

Then, you have the issue where right now Alpha is not the only premade. Last night I had a match where my 4 man premade was in Charlie Lance; which only happens if Alpha and Bravo are full with premades as well.

Until they get the 3/3/3/3 thingy straightened out and fix the latest bugs they introduced, yeah pretty much.

I have a few screenshots of that happening - only had it happen when me, Votanin and Bulletsponge were three man, but it happened a few times after (I forget who :)) pulled me into some more matches a few days after that. <-- took screenshots that time.

Planning on uploading them for fits and giggles - some of them are "Carry Harder" worthy. :)
(Why yes - our team had three 4-mans, we still lost)

The single group thing was supposed to make it at least, but the only thing I noticed is the 12 mans disappeared. Least that's a good thing.

I had the same thing happen for us, too. Our triple 4-player team lost, and we had a two player advantage. To be fair I was in a Locust.

In other news - it will probably be a few days before I am on again Votanin - visitors came up and we tore up (and are planning on replacing) all the kitchen flooring (where the interweb cords are - my tower doesn't have a wireless card)

My gaming tower is currently sitting in a box at the back of the living room. :)

Edit: added quote to be sure I had Votanin's attention. :P

Quoting this to give a second like. :)

I think I was in Huginn or my bright shiny RVN-4X

Well, not to take this topic to a new topic, but since it's pretty much covered as "fried until next Tuesday, assuming a fix does come at all," I was wondering what you thought of the Huginn?

I liked it for the little time I had it on the test server. Just can't afford to get one. Besides, I need another hero mech like I need another mechbay. And at 103 mechbays with 3 empty, I gotta say I need another mechbay.

Hm. Just isn't working out for me. In the mean time I got a SHK-2K. 2nd most armored SHK there is stock so it should be interesting to see in Stock Mech Monday. Still inferior in every way to the armor and protection of the 10-ton-lighter Blackjacks, though.

Not the strongest thing out there - not the fastest, most armored, or hardest hitting, but it makes a great vulture.

I have had several 1 on 1 fights with Embers and won (mostly because they either overheated, or were....shall we say "new" to the chassis? <---trying to not make fun of them :))

I am not planning on openly sharing my build (partially because I really believe it is the kind of build the... "more serious" would love to mock) but it does involve MG. (because 4xMG is awesome against internals)

Had some really really weird ones as well.

The kind you spend the whole match not sure what anyone is doing - and are surprised at the results screen.
(really wishing I had taken more screenshots.)

I loved the HBK 4SP in stock... but damn it's hard leveling them up while stock. Dropped onto Mordor 4 outta 7 games with it while trying to get it basiced up, and holycrap it was painful with SHS there. I'm afraid of the SHDs and JAGs in stock....

I have an awful lot of very weird games, but I don't want to start ranting again :)

But just imagine a swarm of Huggins....16 MGs and 8 ssrm2s.....how quick would that strip armor off of mechs?

Less well than an equal swarm of Locusts - the lasers would do a lot more for helping concentrate the fire - so that you can really make use of the MGs. :)

True...but something satisfying about turning an entire atlas cherry red before the kill....
