We will see :(

For my part i am sure that there will be some pretty nice Thorloadouts which can compete with the current Meta-Mechs if a.) the right Variants are released and b.) Clantech isn't just pure trash after nerfing which would make clanmechs useless anyway. We talk again after the release. Even if 2 ER PPC won't be viable there are other combos that can be devastating such as big ACs with an ER PPC backing it up or a more autocannonheavy build. Double LBX5 with an ER PPC could be also viable especially when CER-PPCs really do 15 dmg.

Compete, sure. Remember: Clan ERPPC is supposed to be a 15 point damage attack. 15x2=30. The current poptart build is 2 IS PPC, 2 AC5 . 10+10+5+5=30. So as far as compete, I do not argue. However anything beyond matching the damage output of the current generation of PPC/AC mechs on a Clan heavy or medium is unlikely. They just do with two weapons what the current mechs do with four, which is fine.

However, by no means is there grounds to worry that the Clan mechs will be OP in comparison to what we already have running around. :)

Edit: The tonnage used to slap in additional firepower beyond the current 30 point alpha goal is far better used in heat sinks. Clan tech is doing more with less, not taking more of less. Not without a consequence, anyways.

you didn't know...and you're practically Canadian!!!

Calling me practically Canadian is rather like calling an Irishman practically a Brit - or a Japanese, practically Chinese.

The two are right next to eachother - but that doesn't mean they have anything in common. :(

I have been testing it religiously. In game and in heat simulators. Assuming best case scenario they do not make Clan ERPPC hotter and worst case that they do not alter DHS for Clans, yes. You know, leaving the heat as status quo. You need 20 DHS to fire twin ERPPC three times in a row on a map like Tourmaline before you end up at the edge of shutdown. If you were any less heat efficient, as soon as the enemy gets around your hill hump cover you will be far too hot to sustain the combat.

...
The difference in heat between a standard PPC and an ER is such that, guess what, you do not even see meta mechs pack ERPPC.

Now, you could switch to firing just a single ERPPC, but that eliminates the entire purpose of the high FLD output. When it comes to high FLD and sustainability, there is a point where they converge. It makes no real sense to make your mech a furnace for 5 additional points of damage.

So, 90 points of pinpoint damage before you have to even worry about shutting down. Ok... how is that not viable again?

And then you switch to your low heat weapons. Seriously, it's nbd. Clan weapons will be just fine. Your theorycrafting is ignoring practical application.

Because in theory you won't be fighting morons who can actually use cover while closing distance? Then you need to deal that 90 damage to the mech that is in your face. To the spot you want. Build with redundancy or die by the lack of it.

Do we know that the engine size will be the same in all 3 CT varients?
If they are, then what is left to make each CT unique? 2 slots for hardpoints? MEH
Maybe (crosses fingers) we'll get number2 with a smaller engine for more avail. tonnage.
And number3 with a larger engine. (even more speed, less room for weps)
.
.
?
I don't remember seeing anything regarding different engine sizes....Anyone?

Well since it is 6 months of mech releases being ready and usable by June 17th, I just hope work is moved towards other important things this time next month.

I see what you mean, but....

Its like Darksouls 2 vs the Darksouls 2 special Webhallen collectors edition (that actually costed more then the Clan Packs). You could pay out the nose to get a hoodie, bag and some in-game crap just because you liked it, or you could settle for the regular version. In MWO you can either go with the free version or go for the super Clan Pack if you like it. Neither is required to enjoy the game in itself.

Heck thinking about it, comparing the $240 Clan Pack to a lot of Collectors Editions I have of other games, its not very expensive at all. True, all of those CEs come with some physical goods but most of that is in a display case and of no practical use..... I think I need to stop buying these CEs....

I have never bought a CE and never will. Good for you if you do--but do they really add that much extra worth to a game?

I argue they don't.

And besides, free + wait or 240 bucks = now isn't reasonable. I imagine if PGI charged only 60 bucks for the entire Clan pack, they would find many more willing buyers than they have that will pay 240 bucks.

In fact, I bet they'd find more than four times the buyers... maybe even eight times. That's more money... I can buy a graphics adapter for 240 bucks. I can upgrade my CPU for 240 bucks. I can get 1.5 Track IRs for 240 bucks. I can get a mechanical keyboard, a new laser mouse AND a glass mouse pad for 240 bucks.

The list goes on.

240 bucks is in no way reasonable. It is asinine.

The most I have EVER paid for a game in my life is 140 bucks for Samurai Showdown 2 on the Neo Geo. Yes, the actual cartridge. It was worth every cent--the game is regarded as the best Samurai Showdown ever made and in fact, one of the greatest fighting games ever made.

Would I pay that again for a game? No. In retrospect, it wasn't a wise expenditure. Most of the cost was due to the hardware costs. Have you ever seen a Neo Geo cartridge? They are huge!

But for a PC game... 60 bucks is our limit. It is within reason. I'd rather the game not be F2P, honestly, and instead have user run servers, huge amounts of content and a fully fleshed out single-player to complement the multiplayer. All for 60 bucks. Other game companies do it all the time... for far far less.

Take a look at Minecraft... How much did the guy make... oh... over 100 million...

Premium pricing only limits you to a niche market. It purges the majority of the population from the customer base. It is, in itself, a bad idea.

Oh please, it's exactly the same as MWO. Arena based shooter. No community warfare. Free to play. Consumables. Cosmetics.

And most importantly: Fantastic gameplay.

NOPE.

Team Fortress 2 gameplay >>>> MWO.

There is no comparison. TF 2 has balance and tons of content. MWO has limited content and horrific balance. They are NOT the same.

TF 2 is also not an arena based shooter. It is a team based, strategy shooter with 12v12 or 16v12, multiple classes, many maps, varied game modes.

MWO doesn't have varied game modes. MWO = blob together. Push. Snipe. Win. You can't do that in TF 2. It won't work. Not like it does here.

Yes.... Yess!!! FEEL THE ANGER!

It flows through your veins. Let it course!
I have never needed to spend much time on the TF 2 forums since they ...

a. Listened to the community from the start
b. Didn't pretend to know better than the community
c. Rapidly implemented balance changes in quick succession until the game was extremely well balanced

Have you played Team Fortress 2 at the top competitive levels... and won leagues?

A. Take a while to implement what the community asks for - when they impliment it
(Gee, sound familiar?)
B - HAH. HAH. HAH.
C. Are we talking about the same Valve? The same TF2?

.....huh must not be.

Yes, we are talking about the same Valve. The difference is I was there and played the game for over 1600 hours. What they did there was treat us properly and earned every cent of my money. AND they didn't ask obscene amounts, to do it.

Why are you so angry? Therapy will help you.

Truth be told, e-peen aside, I DID play at the top levels and my team DID win leagues. It has no bearing here, but I can frankly speak from explicit experience with the game.

...funny....works both ways.

As for Valve being so awesome - and as awesome as they are - they are hardly as wonderful as you keep trying to paint them.
They have their issues that they have left unfixed for long periods of time - or were you (as competitive as you claim to be) unfamiliar with the issues built into the Engineer's pistol or the Dead Ringer or all the other stuff they have added?

Being an expert at Final Fantasy means you know EVERYTHING about Pokemon
Being an expert at Counter Strike means you know EVERYTHING about Halo
Being an expert at Team Fortress2 means you know EVERYTHING about MWO

Because being an expert at Monopoly means you know what would fix all the problems with Yatzee.

Which gets all the more sad if MWO and TF2 are as different as you claim.

I'm not mad. I'm giggling profusely over here. :(

What was your point, again?

Oh, I guess you missed me winning a tourney in MWO and placing in other ones. Who are you again? That's what I thought.

See, I have an opinion, too. One you clearly don't like. It wrecks your precious little game. That's okay, though. You'll get over it (hopefully) and learn to deal with it.

Did I say I disliked it?
Did I say I was angry?

No - just mocking you for the fact that you are holding it up as fact.

That's okay. My daughter laughs at me all the time--especially after she pulls my finger and I rip a fart.

Here's a whoopie cushion... It'll spread the rank fun. :(
