New Hero Mech coming out today!

"Loup de Guerre" = English translation: "War Wolf"

From wiki:

The Warwolf, or War Wolf or Ludgar (Loup de Guerre), is believed to be the largest trebuchet ever made. It was created in Scotland by order of King Edward Longshanks of England, during the siege of Stirling Castle, as part of the Scottish Wars of Independence.

I don't see where it offers much more than a 7M other than an extra missile hardpoint. Although the tubes are different. The 7M only has that single NARC tube in the left torso.

Interested to see how the tubes are laid out.

This means the Trebuchet has had an art pass...

I had so many c-bills, now I don't ;)

Looks like a decent stock build too.

Naming it after a famous Trebuchet and not equipping it with LRM's just seems wrong though.

No more mahoosive arms ;)

I currently own 3 of the TBT chassis. So I'll probably pony up for this one too. Blackjack should be next. I'm definitely looking forward to the BJ Hero, especially if it has all 3 hardpoint types.

Wonder what the tube count is. Artemis SRM24 could be brutal.

finally a decent light hunter in bucket form

will be probably buying it,since buckets are good with missiles and dont draw fire that much.

Yep, my thoughts too. Puts it on par with a GRF-3M. But spreads the missile hardpoints out over the chassis instead of all clumped together in the left torso.

Interesting. I'm curious what they'll do with the remaining mechs that lack hero variants. A spider with two missile hardpoints and one energy, perhaps? A blackjack with two ballistic and two missile and two energy?

Other than the nice paint job and hero bonus, is there any reason to take a Trebuchet over a Shadow Hawk?

Speaking from a pure min/max perspective, to be honest, there isn't that much of a reason to take any medium over the Phoenix ones. The Shad and the Griffin are just straight up better. There's a reason the tryhards only use Shads when they're forced to take a medium.

However, the arm mounted missile hardpoints could be interesting for jump brawling with SRMs . . . if they ever get fixed completely, that is.

True, also, I guess if you only had 50 tons left in a weight restricted match, it would be a good choice. Also, wouldn't you be a "try hard", if you used the mech that required more skill?

Who cares if the thing is meta-worthy or not? It’s not a Cataphract or a Victor, and thus nobody likes it. What’s new?

Instead, let us Trebuchet owners simply rejoice in the fact that the Treb Hero is here, and in the fact that it did not get the Huginn or IV-4 treatment! 2E/4M with a 325XL and 5JJ is perfectly workable, especially if this art pass Piranha’s promised does what I swear it looks like it did and pulled the ‘Mech’s arms in/down closer to itself. Too much to hope that they shrunk it down a meter or two as well, but hey! Art pass is still good! Of course I’m at work at the moment and can’t actually test things out, but still! The paint’s fantastic, and the ‘Mech lines up beautifully with what half to two-thirds of Treb pilots do to their Trebs anyways. Bop the pulse lasers down to standards and flip the Artemis button and it may very well be usable 95% stock, what with the SRM-4s being very nearly as powerful as SRM-6s. If this isn’t the best SRM missile cruiser in the chassis I’ll eat my 7M.

I cannot wait for this sucker to go up in Smurfy so I can get my mad-scientist fingers into it. So very, very glad they didn’t strike out again, I’m still depressed over how un-good Huginn is…

Based on the covered missile ports, I'd hazard a guess that the number of tubes per port is as follows:

LA: 10 tubes
RA: 20 tubes
LT: 6 tubes
RT: 6 tubes

EDIT: I stand corrected. Based on another pic I saw, the torsos have at least 10 tubes each.

I've a feeling double ASRM6 in the torsos, double SSRM2 in the arms and two MLs, with nigh full armour, top engine and four jump jets is going to be a cool striker build.

something like this:

TBT-7M "Almost Hero"

the 1.5 free ton is the missing streak launcher in the RA.

Smurfy has it loaded now, 20 tubes per hard point.

That's right, LRM 80 in a trenchbucket is possible. Stupid, but possible.
