So this is a question I've been thinking about for a while: Isn't Clan ECM 'Omni-Equipment'? Meaning that any Onmi-Mech can equip it? Additionally, the Guardian ECM that the IS have now (in MWO), isn't that more like the Clan ECM (I think it's called Angel ECM) than what it's supposed to be?

Lore people and holders of TT books, please enlighten me!

Short answer, in table top it is, but most likely not here in MWO.

Long answer, expect omnipods with an ECM hard point only for mechs with ECM variations in the lore. Socketing in the ECM capable omnipod should allow any variant of a chassis with a lore based ECM variant to use the ECM.

I want to say, Clanners would never 'hide' from battle. It's dishonorable.

Plenty of clanners were dishonorable. They were still human beings complete with their flaws. They were just less capable of accepting it or admitting it.

Difference between honor and stupidity. The patient hunter stalks its prey, staying unseen, tracking until the time is right to pounce.

There was no Dishonor using ECM against freebirth dribble!! Most clans other than some of the Warden Clans saw innershere Battlemech pirates as unworthy of the time it took to destroy them. Inner sphere Pilots were considered dishonorable opponents that lacked true honor or strength. IS units would in the eyes of most Clanners be bastions of deceit and trickery and should be disposed of by any means possible in combat. Turtle Bay anyone!! Bueller Bueller!!

Dishonourable is hiding behind hilltops and raining LRM fire. It is only by using ECM that true warriors may strive to force the Inner Sphere cowards out of hiding and into the glorious melee in the name of Khorne.

Tired of missiles raining down on your head from freeborth scum, quiaff? Has invading the Inner Sphere really sowed down thanks to the maintenance costs of refilling all of your AMS ammo?

Well we here at Diamond Shark motors have got just the thing to help you out on a "rainy" day, Angel ECM!

What does Angel ECM do? Why heck, what does it not do, surat?

Our patented "Bubble" technology keeps those dishonorable scum from targeting you with their high arcing long range missiles while you are still attempting to finish your bid. No more will Bondsman Betty incessantly annoy you with warnings of incoming outdated freebirth technology. Your Angel ECM is guaranteed to keep the dezgra of the Inner Sphere off of your back and in your crosshairs.

Diamond Shark Motors is not responsible for failures of Angel ECM due to, but not limited to, massive electrical discharges, counter-ecm, active probes, TAG equipment, destruction of components, dumbfired LRMs, forgetting to turn it back to disrupt, jump sniping, freebirth techs, pie filling, or Tetatae.

They wouldn't hide - yet there were plenty of clan chassis that mounted ECM - including one of the Kit Fox and the Hellbringer

Good question !
I think in MWO no Clan Mech will get an ECM - if i take a look at the Clan selling page.

But due to tremendous firepower, they dont need it.

Here is to hoping that the Hero Timber Wolf is the Bounty Hunter. (ECM + Targeting Computer? :o )

Let us not count our chickens before they are hatched, quiaff? We have no clue how PGI is handling the TarComp. Somehow I expect it to be underwhelming, and if so I rather free up 4 or 5 tons worth of equipment for additional weaponry or heat sinks. Did you know you could fix almost all the problems with the Hellbringer, for example, by simply removing the A-Pods and TarComp? All that tonnage can go into armor and heat sinks. o_0

(Actually, to fix the problems, you drop the A-Pods, BAP, AMS, AMS ammo, MGuns, MGun ammo, TarComp, and one ERMLas. End up with 2 ERPPC, 2 ERMLas, SSRM6, ECM, 19 DHS, and 11.5 tons of standard armor, but the bulk of the tonnage is freed up by the loss of the A-Pods and TarComp.)

I did read on sarna that one of the Dire wolf variants (that we didn't get) had ECM, as if it needed it.

I don't know if anyone else saw the variant of the DW that we are getting with the LB10X, 2 ERPPCs and 4 freaking ULTRA AC2s?

If you thought the Jager was bad... This thing will kill you if you even cross its line of sight, so, no, it don't need no ECM.

(is a little bit excited)

Tabletop Omnis don't have hard points. MWO Omnis will have set hardpoints that are swappable with hard points from other variants. It's likely ECM will be the same way - if one variant is capable of mounting ECM in it's left torso, you get access to ECM in every other variant, so long as you use the ECM capable left torso.

Also, everyone's ECM in MWO works like Angel ECM(Which is experimental post-invasion tech). TT Guardian ECM doesn't stop missile locks, but DOES stop NARC. Angel ECM is required to stop missile locks and only functions on Streaks. Clan ECM is just like IS ECM but smaller and lighter.

Neg, it must be the Timber Wolf "Pryde" variant. Why do you think PGI added the Timber Wolf Alt-S? So that they could make a hero version of the "Pryde" variant without people crying "pay to win".
