I feel like I'm that 10 year old boy all over again, watching that Timber Wolf marching in to save his comrade only to get taken out by that damned Summoner (Thor). Except this time it was a Warhammer and an Atlas, and I'm 28 with two kids who now get to experience the ride with me. My 5 year old son is already practicing MW2 on his computer (A rehashed p266 I've had since 1997).
This might sound a bit irresponsible, but I saw that $120 Legendary Option, and didn't even read what it had to offer before hitting "Buy Now". I had already made the decision, after PGI initially announced Operation Inception, that I would buy the highest package they had. Not because of some fancy tag, or custom mech, or even in-game Credits. But because it was the only way to donate money to what I consider the most anticipated game of my entire gaming lifetime since Mechwarrior 2. (MW3 was decent..MW4 makes me feel dirty (and not in a good way).)
PGI in particular, has time and time again over the last year, shown that they are indeed committed to the community. Had they announced an official Kickstarter Page, I'm confident it would have been a success. The core players of Mechwarrior and Battletech are true fans. While some of us haven't been here from the beginning, we fans, do believe in the vision, and the game.
And so, it's the great Mechwarrior Circle of Life.
May your Atlas fall to it's knees at the feet of my Raven, (since that's about the only thing I can shoot at that scale before it trips over me or squashes me like a bug.
Salute!
