Hello everyone,

Quick question, before I spend $120 on a F2P game. Has anyone here tried the game (beta)? Hate to spend so much money on a game made by a company with a small track record: from: http://en.wikipedia....i/Piranha_Games

Thanks!

Beta folks are under an NDA, and can't even say that they are in Beta without violating it.. so, they are unable to answer whether or not they've tried it.

If you're not comfortable with PGI as the developer... that's your choice. I however like what I've seen so far, and am willing to (obviously) support the team.

Even if you don't go legendary.. which, if you think about it is really only 2 other game purchases, the elite/veteran packs are also a good way to show your support.

*sigh*
Trolls be trollin.

If you are a fan of BT or MW, shell out the cash. If you want the game to succeed, shell out the cash. If you like the fact that this is one of the few games which the Devs actually have an open dialogue with the community, shell out the cash. If you've been waiting for a new MW game for the past 10 years like the rest of us and are hyped about the fact that this is radically energizing the genre, shell out the cash.

If you don't, then don't. Don't ask us to justify your actions for you.

See it as a bit of a risk?

Drop $60 instead, on faith and to offer support not only to the developers but also to the community.

That's my plan.

In before the lock :P

"Good" first post: asking Beta-testers to break NDA.

Who do you work for?

Roger, thanks for the response and I am not trolli. I'll spend the cash and keep my fingers crossed.

Sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know if the environment is destructible?

Once again an obvious troll on a first post. Welcome back Royalwave. Wow, is the F2P market so tight that there are so many obvious trolling haters trying to go on other games forums and attack the company during a closed beta. When a person who is interested in the game would have known at E3 the game was playable by anyone without an NDA. That there are tons of videos out with game play shown.

So welcome to the forums mr Troll. Watch out for the sunlight it turns you to stone. See you in ten minutes or so with a new name, new IP and a new negative troll thread.

Since this name will never post again except possibly a few more times in this thread. Just like your last name, etc. etc. etc.

I can see both sides of the arguement, yes its alot of money to drop on a game which is being made by a company with an apparent poor record, that there is rather little info on, and oh yeah, its alot of money.

On the other hand, if you like what you've seen/heard/read, you're a fan on the series, you have the money, and you think the game will succeed, then pay up and wait like the rest of us.

So, basically what you are saying is that no one ever evolves, or does anything better in life than when they first started? No progression and development of skill sets. That's a comforting thought. I no longer have to bother to better myself anymore since according to the OP, nothing I do over time will be better than what I did in the past. Whew, that's a load off my shoulders. :P

It is a smart question. I did the same thing as you before I bought in. However, I disagree with your assessment. I looked at 3 of their latest releases on gamespot and IGN and they got 7.5s. That's not a solid 10 on each, but respectable, and I suspect they didn't have AAA funding for those projects. What did you find when you did your research that made you think they'd done shoddy work in the past?

Not that it needs a reminder, but F2P means you don't have to spend money if you don't want to.

Have a feeling that it's going to be "Pay 2 Win" even though there's been countless threads, dev posts, and write ups to the contrary? Don't spend your money.

Would rather spend it on PC upgrades? Don't spend your money.

Unsure if PGI can really deliver "your" mechwarrior experience? Don't spend your money.

As far as I know trees will be the only destructible part of the levels.

Have you ever seen Blizzard's trackrecord for games before they made Warcraft 1? Their was a reason no one really wanted to invest in them (except a company that made educational products and had no idea how to make games). I have a feeling that this could be Piranha's Warcraft1. If you don't want to buy a Founder's pack then don't, just wait until it's released.

P.S. Im not saying Blizz's early games sucked, just that their was nothing special about them.

I have a Question: Have you ever experienced a game developer truly reaching out to the community of fans they are making the game for? Providing insight, teasers and info on a regular nearly scheduled basis? Can you imagine if another, larger, greedier studio was charged with the MechWarrior Reboot?

Their past games are irrelevant by way of the brownie points they have earned in listening to and reacting to our suggestions, wants and demands. You need to go read all the developer blogs, interviews and community Q&A's to get a feel of how they are not taking a hands-off approach here. They are not just making another title to meet launch day and then stand back. If anything, without a founders package I would contribute just to help them have the capital they need to improve the game further.

I don't think his post warrants any bashing. It's a valid concern, and he decided after consideration to buy one of the founder's packages.

Good luck! I'm keeping my fingers crossed as well.

Welcome to our ranks, FileTitan! I think you will be pleased with your purchase. I haven't played the game yet myself, of course, but I've been tracking this very closely for a long time... and everything is shaping up great! You might be interested in looking up the E3 threads on this forum, as there were some folks who had time there with the game and who are not under NDA - their reports were very interesting!
