It's the lack of delayed convergence. (Note jump sniping existed back then, but did anyone complain? Nope. They had to hold the reticule on you for 1 full second to get a pinpoint hit; since that was nearly impossible, no one really complained about them because it wasn't that effective). There was also the LACK of Armlock; the principle tool required to get poptart sniping to function. Remove that alone and the whole thing becomes MUCH more skill based.
With that removed and Armlock added... the only thing left to do is fix autocannons to match the lore (no front loaded damage; multiple shots to do rated damage).

In any case my opinion for what it is worth:
1. Jump sniping is a perfectly acceptable thing to do in a mechwarrior game and adds a great deal of depth and skill when done right.
2. Jump sniping is not done right in MWO.
3. Jump jets should be primarily for mobility advantage
4. Shooting while jumping should be allowed but it should be DIFFICULT
As such keeping a reduced but still impactful reticle shake when on the downwards angle like Bishop suggests is what i have been thinking is the best way for a long long time. I thought thats what happened originally then they patched it out but my memory isnt great sometimes.
I also think that adding heat when Jumping might help to slow down the amount of fire being done from jumping and also make it more dangerous in a brawl.
Both of these things together would keep jump jets useful but sniping at decent ranges would be very hard - but not impossible while keeping JJs as a great mobility tool but one that still costs you heat so would be a meaningful choice to jump or not jump when under pressure

Why are you back? You come back and you immediately give people a bad time.
And really, if you have a mech that all it can do is jump snipe, what does it say? If it can fit other roles, and you delete it plain and simple who looks like an idiot?
It's really a shame to see you back and posting.
My goal was not to give anyone a hard time, only to make a point and defend it...and why would i make doubles of a role?...so if it becomes useless at the role i designed it for then it will be deleted...plain and simple..for example...if I already have a perfectly capable cataphraft brawler..why would I use a different variant as a brawler?

And increase the PPC cooldown to not be the same as an SRM6, or a ML.

Stay behind cover looking for target than jump and shoot.
Remove 3rd person view would help abit.

naw, most of the first 4 pages actually were pretty intelligent. But you know, Peekaboo comes a long and you got two choices....continue to try to have an intelligent conversation with the halfwit screaming all around you, or sit back, and enjoy baiting him into making himself look even sillier than normal. I'm bored and tired, so went with plan B. *shrugs*. I never claimed altruism.

Nothing in this game is a threat. But of course there are Mech/Weapon constelations that are pure brown that hit the fan.
Good example - did renew my CN9-A (Stock weapons) - did face a BJ-1X....with only MLAS.
My Mech had more weight - my weapon load out was heavier... mobility was equal. If MWO would have been good balanced - it should have been a fight of equals but it wasn't. (I could explain that in detail but i think thats another matter)

That's correct. So, do you change each FLD weapon to spread damage? Or remove the offending game mechanic?
I would make the change that impacts the least number players. Changes to some weapons will affect some players, changing fundamentals like the movement and shooting mechanics has a much broader impact.

I know people complain and rally hard against a cone of fire mechanic for weaponry in this game... though I don't get why considering every modern shooter has this, even WoT which MWO is trying so hard to emulate. And it would solve all the complaints about poptart and FLD alpha spam... and it would spread hits out more, thus allowing for longer fight times. Which everyone seems to want [including the devs].

So, what's your take on weapon balance? It is proper?
I think the ac2 nerf was unneeded..ghost heat is an atrocity...and while in skilled hands poptarting can be deadly...but so can anything else in skilled hands...I think lrms could use a buff...and for GODS SAKE plz fix SRM's, that would help brawling in the game a great deal....never understood ghost heat especially on srm's....
