Imho, as i was in Alpha Lance and had more Premades in the Team than 1 my guess is that 3 mans be filled with Soloers and 4 mans aligned with Lances.

I do it sometimes in order to make sure that I've set up my triggers correctly. If I have 4 medium lasers arm mounted, 2 in each arm, I will probably want a "left arm" and a "right arm" trigger but it's not always obvious which is which as you're setting them up.

Or as Joe said, you might want to check heat after an alpha so that you know later when it's safe to fire.

Completely not scientific but when I solo drop and end up in Charlie lance (maybe 10% of the time) I can see a difference in the level of players in that they are better like I am playing with the big boys at that time. The other majority of the time I'm in Alpha/Bravo it feels like I need to carry the team.

Probably all in my head but just thought I would share my 2 cents based on my experience.

This is really weird. I am a 100% solo-and-not-very-good pug player but I am almost aways placed in Alpha or Bravo. It's very unusual for me to be in Charlie. This is based on an embarrassingly large number of matches (810 since the stats reset) so it must be statistically significant?
