Hey ... PGI ... you hear that? That deafening silence on the battlefield? Mechs with no pilots?

Yep ...

It's your fault!

You finally brought peace to the galaxy!

After just finishing up a match with MORE artillery and airstrike spam than the 12man drops back in the day, yeah, I'd say that's an accurate assessment.

Next Patch we will be able to buy a Tactical Nuke Consumeable, for just 100k you will be able to end a match, no need to play silly Mechcombat anymore, thats true Role Warfare!

It is quite funny.

This patch basically made arty/air strikes mandatory. Sad as that is my biggest grip with the game. Watch top teams play and its arty strike after arty strike before they engage. Now it seems thats the endorsed tactic.

Look on the bright side. It's an indirect LRM nerf, because all the weapon Mods are so terrible, everyone will be running AMS Modules.....

Of course its an endorsed tactic. Its a massive cbill sink for the average or below average player trying to dig their stats out of the hole they are in. Which in turn makes progression (the grind) so horrendously slow that the only way for them to advance at any kind of decent rate to require $$$.

Make no mistake. This was a business decision. Not a game play one. When it comes to money, PGI is anything but stupid.

I see your Tactical Nuke, and raise you one Strategic Nuke....

EDIT: For the record, it is literally a one shot wonder. You WILL Kill yourself if you Alpha. The trick is to make sure your target dies too. Don't miss.

According to Niko this is one of the changes that the majority of the player base wanted.

As an online experience, one will always have to expect changes to content in the game. We appreciate these might not be the changes you personally want, but they are the ones expected or desired by the majority of players and will open the door for further improvements. In such circumstances: We have not simply a right, but an obligation to the game to make those changes. Additionally, it is worth noting that you haven't purchased any modules for MC and we do not typically offer refunds on any items acquired for free through game-play.

Hit the nail on the head!

There is no doubt that this was done to lower the amount of cbills in people's accts. Expect more consumables/modules for both Cbills and MC. The rule of F2P is get them in the micro transactions.

Last night was just silly stupid. Red smoke appeared everywhere in almost every match. It's like letting a group of 3-year olds run free in a clean room with an open bucket of paint. At one point in a game there were airstrikes going off in every visible direction, including on the top of my head. Had a cornered banshee drop one at his feet as a "screw you" before he died. I felt like I was in a bad Vietnam movie. They've gotten everyone from beginners to vets packing these things in every match now. A flurry of "how do I fire airstrike?" in open comms was the norm.

Not fun in the slightest, just really sours the game experience IMHO.

"Gee Billy, how come your mom lets you take TWO Arty strikes?"

OT: It really does seem like PGI doesn't want the players to have many C-Bills, even if they do run premium time.

Considering how long a lot of us have been playing, I don't see it. I know plenty of people who have hundreds of millions of cbills banked (myself included). I could buy two consumables per match and make 0 cbills for months on end. And I have NEVER bought MC consumables even for comp matches. If they are banking on making a lot of $$ from this change I don't see it happening.

Yeah, I've been rolling without modules, or with just a UAV in most mechs, because it's been a pain to find and set them. I don't own enough to keep mechs full, so unless I'm playing a very specialized role (serious LRM boat, or serious spotter) I tend to leave them alone these days.
