I salvaged one of my posts from another thread that has gone the way of posting gifs.
"Any reason to still be bitter?" http://mwomercs.com/...till-be-bitter/
Page 25-27

We were discussing the apparent, lingering distrust by the community towards the developers.
My hope is we can continue to do this here. With less gifs.

My answer is to an user who explained:

Quote

To expect a f2p game not to put out things to try and make money much quicker than content that does, is a bit ignorant.

---------------------------

Nobody is confused or angry about the company trying to make a buck. Although I find it silly, I even understand paid early access (phoenix, clan) cockpit items and the pricing of hero mechs, champion mechs, even colours and mech bays. If they are planning to release (one day soonTM) the game we all waited for they need funding along the way. Fine.

What I find amateurish, objectionable and even outright counterproductive for their own self interest is that they sacrifize playability for it. They adjust game mechanics with the focus of immediate monetization. Not to make the game better. (which would come with its own reward, a larger, more loyal crowd)

You might agree or not with specific cases of gameplay changes, but that is what people are thinking. They even suspect foul play behind the module system change. They don´t believe PGI would be too incompetent to realize 48 arty/air strikes would be no fun. Same story with 3PV, where they were accused of catering to 10 year old console gamers. (leaving the the lieing aside for the moment)

Call them conspiracists, but I know loads of people that accuse them of doing it on purpose. You need little imagination for it. Just look what Mechs dominate the game and at assault/clan assault mech MC prices. Add the nebulous talk about "end game content". Add the horrid C-Bill grind. Listen to the crowd of people expecting heavy nerfs when the clans will be available for C-Bills.

I don´t say that is their plan, because I simply don´t know, but that is the spirit that comes across.

----------
And that they irritate their players with missed deadlines, missing or patchwork content, broken promises and dodgy communication is just on top of that.
----------

What grinds my gears, personally, is that it is absolutely unneccessary. Damn, if PGI or most likely the publisher even remotely knew their players they could make loads of money without making their fans mad. During development. With little or no coding at all.

Way more than with this appstore / browsergame business model.

If you had asked me this six months ago I would say PGI is why. But now is now and I'm starting to see the development start to head in a little better direction. Russ and team have a long way to go still, but my agitation level with what's been going on for the last few years is lower then it has been in the past.

I think you hit the nail on the head with a few of your points. PGI is sitting on a goldmine right now. They just seem to constantly miss the mark on what MWO needs the most right now which is depth and immersion. As it stands right now, I don't feel like I'm part of the mechwarrior universe and that lack of immersion is a pretty big negative in a lot of players books.

You are right in that no one knows what PGI's true intentions are when they make the design decisions that do. They could sincerely care 200% about the game and the playerbase, but when your actions give off the perception that you dont' really give a crap about the game itself, or the community, and all your looking at is the "pewpew MLG famouse, hundred dolla bills ya'll" it's pretty clear why so many are pretty bitter.

Perception is everything.

Simply put, I don't like being misled/lied to and I don't like being disrespected.

Both of which, IMHO, PGI did in spades in the past, and with few exceptions has never made it up to me as a consumer.

The fact that I'm still here is testament to the franchise, not the developers.

PGI has basically pulled too many bait and switches for many of us to ever give them the benefit of the doubt again.

We're the ones who enable them buy continuing to buy new "content" despite the fact they aren't putting out a game worth buying.

.....Because we get a consensus of dedicated knowledgeable people who agree the developers should balance the game a certain way due to insight, brilliance and a big dose of common sense.

Then the developers take the game in an exact 180, going completely in the other direction.

So yeah. I. am. still. bitter.

you can sell hundreds$$$$ of stuff if the value is there... and MWO is an zombie alpha-beta. fine when it was badged that way but now after time people see it differently, no wonder clans failed to even get par to founders.

This is a side discussion of http://mwomercs.com/...till-be-bitter/, which I had to close because it got bombed by negativity and the rule violations resulting from it.

It essentially is the same topic just with a negative starter. I don't see a reason, why I should let the negative twin life.

So, I'm closing this as well!

Edit: Reopening, like the other thread!
