Ok, here's something I think needs improving:

"Unit Tags must be between 1 and 4 Characters long.
  • Please note: Unit Tags are NOT unique."
That's bad. No team wants another team to run around with the same Tags.

You can help more variety by allowing Unit Tags to consist of more than only 4 characters please.

Also allow us to use the
+
character please.

Best Regards,

I concur with Ripley, if we have multiple units running around with the same tags its going to have the potential of mistaken identity. I've had cases in other games where there's been some troll with DSA tags (not of my unit) hurling abuse and griefing ingames which then become bad rep for my unit despite it not being our member. So yeah, unique tags would be a HUGE help.

Maybe you replied before my edit, because as written there, allowing more than only 4 characters for unit Tags would help solve the problem.

I think 99% of units have Tags that are 4 characters in length at the most.

So if a unit's name would be "Best Buddies Merc Corps" and their Tag would then be "BBMC" for example, and there was another unit called "Best Buddies Merc Company" using the same Tag "BBMC", then
"Best Buddies Merc Corps" could ingame use -BBMC- as Tag, while
"Best Buddies Merc Company" could use (BBMC) as ingame Tag
- problem solved.

So, I think by allowing ingame Tags to consist of 6 characters total you could fix and avoid double Tag for 99% of the cases (no need to display the actual full unit name ingame). I think there's enough room on the UI for this to work.

Will the guild itself be account bound to whoever starts it, or can we pass around the crown as it were at our discretion? My guild has a traditionally very fluid leadership structure, so it's pretty important that we don't get tied to legacy stuff.

Yes, once created, owners of Merc Corps and Units will be able to move their leadership to other members.

Can someone revoke there choice.. or leave unit if they created it?
Just wondering if people in the same unit create different versions and one wants to fold his unit to join another?

please make unit tags Unique

http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__3637344
http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__3637689

unit pre-reg has not even finished and this issue has already struck
blazing aces have since edited their and are clearly proper gentlemen
but they did not have to be

its pretty clear they both Desire to have the tag ACES
its a common theme too, a few weeks down the road someone will be running around in the Ace of Spades unit
then yet another team using/wanting ACES for their tag

FYI, Clans did not have Merc Units.

You have to understand, there is war on two fronts:

Major House vs Major House

Clan vs Inner Sphere (All Major Houses)

Mercenary units were hired by Major Houses to perform some type of mission. Some merc units were affiliated directly with only one major House, but was not officially part of that House while other merc units were truly open to the highest bidder.

Zyllos FYI clans did have merc units. two in fact Wolf dragoons was a clan unit that posed as a merc unit that served with every house to gather intel for the clans, later siding with the inner sphere against the clans as a full on merc unit. The second was a Jade Falcon group that posed as the Crimson Corsairs. but that aside let me restate my question. If a merc corp has members that have clan mechs in there inventory will those members be only allowed inner sphere mechs if the corp choose to side with Inner Sphere. Or can they use all the mechs on there accounts?

Question - why is it required to have a recruitment thread on these forums? What if it's a unit created from the community on another forum, to be specifically composed of members from that community?

But the rules state that a recruitment thread on this site is required. If we're not recruiting from this site , we wouldn't have a thread here. Does that bar us from creating a unit?

As for making unit tags unique.. is there only 1 unit tag available or could there theoretically be 1 unit tag per house? Say a ACES in Davion a ACES in Steiner a mercenary company also with ACES?

Question: Lone Wolfs Support Group, has spawned over 6 units in our 2 years in supporting Solo Pilots

http://mwomercs.com/...g-solo-players/

and is currently sponsoring 4 in growing stages, can I register them now for those groups? linking the actual leaders till they get their own websites setup?

the rule states
"You must provide a URL to your earliest Recruitment or Unit Info post on our forums."

thus if no such post exists then it cannot be linked to
i believe this is purely for the solving of disputes as they will be resolved via first come first serve policy as it was handled in the original discussions with PGI involving units and unit creation (pre-closed beta)

if they wanted to force us, it would say if you have not made a recruitment post go make one and link it

not according to the rules
their unit leader must be the registrant
if they are not founders they will get a chance to pre-reg so not to worry

Open to Founders: NOW!
Open to All: Sunday, August 17th at 11:59AM (PDT)
Closes: Sunday, August 24th at 11:59PM (PDT)

also you should not feel the need to pre-reg for them, the units you have helped create will need to fly the nest at some point, registration is a great milestone, clearly you and your crew has done amazing work to help out tons of people already
i did not know about the LW support group, i applaud your efforts

Two questions

Are we able to be in 2 units at once, or are you limited to only being in a single group?

What if we want to make a unit thats just internet buddies from way back when that have been hanging out forever so we've never bothered recruiting people or making "fansites"? Are we still able to make a unit?
