Australian East Coast Traceroute Going Via Europe

This shows that the new data center is located in Montreal, Canada. I should get a ping of 260-270 to Montreal, but instead I get 390-420. That is unplayable, even with HSR.
I did a few traceroutes, (open command prompt, type: tracert mwomercs.com) and discovered that my connection is being routed through Europe!
Going the long way around the world explains why I (and other Australians) now have pings around 400.
I'd hope that PGI is aware of this by now, and is working to do something about it. As they don't look at the official forums, can a twitterer mention this problem on there?

You either complain to your ISP, or specifically complain to the node that's redirecting you to parts unknown...
I'm near Melbourne, and my ping has improved. I do think it might be ISP related - different pipe to the new center maybe?

Well, I'm in the Netherlands, my connection used to be routed through the US which made no sense to me whatsoever, I just checked and now it's being routed through France straight to Canada. I also tried pinging the server and I'm now at 99ms, about 30-50 less than before the server migration.
PS: Why is the server even responding to ping? The old server didn't and it can be exploited for a specific kind of DDOS attack.

where within the trace does the ping spike.
You guys need to start collecting the data rather than just saying it's happened.
If there is a bad hop somewhere because it's being overloaded, find it, report it, get your ISP to get it sorted.

I might try changing DNS servers, but I can't connect to the internet at uni unless I have it on automatic. (Eduroam is just [redacted])

I think your internet is routed through an undeasea cable to europe before being routed to canada.
The only thing PGI could do is have a server located in europe or nearer to your location.

why would it magically jump from one pipe going to canada to another one going to canada via europe??

Yeah I saw the spike occur in Quebec as it's heading into Montreal.
