This version was far easier to get in. So, meh?

Yeah, the last one was a real slog. I got up to tier 2 and decided it wasn't worth the time.

Not to derail the thread, but I have a question for people that completed both this and the 50 wins challenge.

Was it easier/faster to get to 950 points than it was to get the 50 wins?

If so I'm going to have an issue with PGI about this.

Why? For shure it was much quicker. For 50 wins you Need in a pug around 100 games. For 950 Points you had been finished after 25. Spotting/Assist/TAG make it easy.

I had to pass. I just couldn't bear to login and play for long duration of time. I am just so jaded from MWO at the moment.

Perhaps Summoner release might bring me back in.

Hell yes, it was easier. I didn't bother going to 50 wins in pug games. My unitmates that did described it as if their lifeforce had been sucked out of their bodies for a week or so after. Glad I stopped at Tier 2.

Let's see...yup I am indeed part of this demographic. Woot for space bucks as an incentive.

Nope. Not worth the time at all. I could do it, but I realized I wasn't having fun during any of those matches. I was just grinding to accomplish some arbitrary goals. Winning, losing or getting kills was insignificant compared to spotting, tagging and NARCing. It just felt like I was gaming a system.

No real satisfaction from this sort of challenge.

EDIT: Note, I actually completed the last challenge, which was more fun for me, even though I didn't agree with the extreme amounts of playtime needed to complete the 3 stages. At least in the last challenge, there was a feeling of pulling together for the win. It felt like less of a grind.

I got to the 6.5m CB mark. Tier 4, am I cool now?

The spotting assists and regular assists made it a bit easier. Take a fast sniper medium with ERLLs, scratch all the enemies with them at least once (there's 12 assists = 24 points) and bring a UAV for all the spotting assists.

Would've been nice to see component destruction or savior kills count for the challenge at 1/4 point and 1/2 point respectively, but thats ok. The challenge was really an all-or-nothing thing for me. Once I got to Tier 1 and had that premium time ticking, I figured I might as well keep on grinding.

it was at leats less frustrating, even if matches varied negatively.Even if you only scored like 4 points, you could at least head to the end. and achiveing 42 points was then kinda great feeling. While the other event was just winning or not.

Short answer yes. The 50 wins challenge (the very first painful one in the series, non-tiered) wasn't as bad as the current (and shortly ending) challenge. The 50 wins tiered one (2 weeks ago) was exceptionally harder, due to the solo nature of the challenge.

I couldn't get to the 50 wins. Just wasn't worth the slog and time invested.

Only reason this one took as long as it did is it took a while to coordinate with the teams to get the best setups. It took me longer to get the first half of the points vs the second half (second half, I was raking in an average of 30 points a game, my last 4 were closer to 50).

I think it was fine though. I had to dedicate time to get this challenge, but it was fun and attainable, and other than the 4 man limit was easy to just play your game and earn, compared to the 50 wins, which required either extreme luck, lots of time, or to suicide farm, and other ugly tactics.

I didn't get all the way through the 50 win challenge (stopped after around 30), but this last weekend's challenge was friggin' easy if you know how to play a spotter.

I think I finished the entire challenge over the course of 25-30 games, scoring 50-70 points per game pretty consistently. Jenner-K for the win :)

Just to repeat, this was much easier. maybe 4 hours total playing time to reach tier 3.

Pretty much answered the "why" question with your post.

PGI finally adds a group challenge (which I'm happy about since every challenge before has been solo) but makes the highest reward much easier to achieve than the 50 wins from the Path to Victory challenge. 50 wins was an unrealistic grind for anyone who wasn't able to sit at their computer for all weekend. I was able to play a little more that weekend and was only able to get 31 wins.

I'm not holding my hand out and asking to be given everything without any work involved, but when you're awarding the same prize for a very different requirement it looks like you're giving one group of players the shaft.
