Hey people, gonna keep it short and simple:

- IS weapons should generate less heat than they currently do to help balance out with Clan firepower. i.e. Clan ER Medium laser does more damage and has more range than IS medium laser (which makes it vastly superior even with the longer beam duration) so I think lowering the IS Medium laser to [3] heat generation?

- Mechs with massive CTs should look at getting a higher max armour rating (eg. Jenner, Awesome, Dragon) by either (a) lowering other locations by 2 points and raising the CT by about 12, ( b ) calculating armour by taking hit box surface area into account or either (c) simply raising the max CT armour rating

Ideas people? I had a few more but I can't remember right now... probably because I haven't had my breakfast yet :)

I don't know, IS Med has shorter burn time and 2 less heat already....

I could see heat reductions on the IS ML, SL, SPL, MPL, and maybe even SRMs. The rest of the weapons probably shouldn't get heat reductions.

Buffing IS mechs would be fine if they only ever fought against Clan mechs, but you'll be seeing IS vs IS battles as well. Lowering heat will just let IS mechs blow the crap out of each other that much faster.

IS mechs need crapy burst fire on AC weapons and they need to stream lrms ;-)

I really hope that pgi doesn't touch weapon again (AGAIN nerf/buff???).

What I really see as necessary for IS medium mech is:

1) better scale; at least 10% scale reduction

2) better quirks

What if they removed the armor limit on IS mechs? It would give the option to improve survivability and as far as I know the hard limits we have now are not imposed by Lore. Many IS assaults would benefit greatly from this.

But seriously, with the high powered weapons, the amount of armor on assaults doesn't make up for the lack of speed and agility. At least they could raise the max armor cap.

Unnerf the Inner Sphere medium laser - give it 3 or even 3.5 heat.

They nerfed clan heat to match the earlier IS heat nerf... I don't think you'd want to unnerf one without the other.

I think you want to un-nerf small lasers, though. There's no reason for them to be so hot.

I cant even remember the last time someone shot at me with a small laser. I bet its been at least a month.

Large IS lasers seem ok. MPL and ERM def could use a look and all smalls could use a look.

But as another poster said, lower heat is effectively upping damage which is bad. If they do change the heat scale so that HS's don't add to the size of it...

Then IS laser changes would be much more of a no-brainer.

As to other stuff. I believe something the game could really use is more hitboxes including mixed area hitboxes.

Sorry about the crap paint skills but I just wanted to illustrate.

That large purple strip down the front of the Cent is his CT hitbox. Then I drew some crappy paint boxes to show how that hitbox's size could be reduced in a way that spreads the damage over multiple armor areas and thereby increases TTK especially for good pilots that torso twist or against indirect lrm fire, or inaccurate enemies or long long range sniping or lasers.

I don't see why we don't cut down on the size of the CT hitbox and put a new type of hitbox in its place.

In my example obviously hitting the heat of the Cent that doesn't count as head or hitting the dead center of it would cause 100% damage to CT. Looking at that crap picture the strip of purple may be too thin. But let me tell you that those hitboxes would DRASTICALLY reduce TTK lel. Sorry for the low quality drawing.

Point being you replace part of the CT hitbox with a hitbox that divides the damage over two armor areas:
-Those two light blue boxes I drew in would take a AC10 hit and do 5 damage to the CT and 5 damage to one of the side torsos instead of putting all 10 of that damage in the CT or ST.

And look at that, we have made it so it takes more pilot skill, more aim, better timing to just core a mech out while barely damaging him outside of his CT.

I would very much like to hear PGI's thoughts on some hitbox redesign in this way.
